A 3.5" HDD formatting format

#1 Post by ambientscape » Sat Feb 25, 2006 9:24 pm

I just bought a desktop hard drive attached to a external casing. Before I started putting it in the enclosure, I formatted it with my desktop pc....but somehow it only have a NTFS format and the FAT32 is not available for this drive. Is this normal?? I've never came across with this kinda drive that doesn't have the FAT32 format.

Thanks

There are probably various ways to do this, but doing a quick search I came up with the following: In XP Pro, go to Start > "Help and Support", type format in the search box then click on the arrow to the right. Choose "Format a dynamic volume", then choose "Using a command line". This tells you how to do it. Just open a command prompt (from Start > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt), then type in the command and press the enter key.
