T4x hdd caddy flush-ness

#1 Post by Herr Yunta » Sun Feb 26, 2006 10:15 pm

Does anyone else's hdd caddy not fit flush into the chasis? On both of my T40 and T41, the hdd caddy does not slide al the way in. They work fine but stick out about 2mm and rub the top lid. I just noticed this recently.

They seem to be fully slid into the chasis since they work fine and i have the mounting screw on the underside installed.

My T40 HD cover isn't quite flush either. With a little pressure it gets close but it isn't quite aligned along the side. If it was a problem, which it isn't, I'd loosen the MB attachment screws, then tighten them while I push the HD cover flush.

First, check that the caddy can go all the way in without the disk. If it doesn't, I don't know what to tell you.

If your caddy is of the older type (without the rubber strip pressing the disk), you could slightly file one side of the holes where the screwhead goes, to make it recess a little.

Likely too much trouble for a nuisance, however.
T440s OK so far.
T420s NVIDIA graphics. Nice, then MB failure.
T400s Workhorse. two of'em, both faulty display with vertical stripes.
T43 °very nice° - MB reflown and dead, two of'em.
T42 15°, dead onboard wireless.
T40, dead memory slot, stolen from me
T30, stolen from me
TP600 dead
