LAN boot (PXE)

#1 Post by marcos » Mon Feb 27, 2006 12:41 am

Has anyone tried that?

I was bored and as distraction began to tinker with my machine for things that I didn't do before. So I tried to see if I could get to boot from network ... and failed. Something wrong in proxydhcp that I didn't investigated further as I was sleepy at some point ...

One disappointment was to learn that the (whole PXE architecture?) server phoenix does not support boot from an image cd, only floppies are supported!

Basically I wanted to see if I could boot from a recovery set without using cds. Will give another stab as time permits ...

you would think that because these are deployed in large corporate environments that the these would definately support pxe.

I would venture to say that if you were set up to image from a RIS server set up to send pxe requests that would probably work.
