T40p dual channel capable?

#1 Post by Tony Chan » Mon Feb 27, 2006 3:23 am

I have a T40p with 1.6 Pentium M and 768Mb ram but the system seems slow. Thinking of replacing the 256 stick with a larger one. Price difference between 512Mb and 1Gb is small BUT if T40p is dual channel capable I would rather put a 512mb and enble dual channel for faster memory access. Does anyone know if T40p is dual channel capable?

Thanks.

PS: The type number is 2373-G1G.

No, thinkpads (asaik) don't care if you have one or two memory slots.
If you want more jizz, upgrade the CPU and/or use a 7200rpm disk.
T440s OK so far.
T420s NVIDIA graphics. Nice, then MB failure.
T400s Workhorse. two of'em, both faulty display with vertical stripes.
T43 °very nice° - MB reflown and dead, two of'em.
T42 15°, dead onboard wireless.
T40, dead memory slot, stolen from me
T30, stolen from me
TP600 dead

The T43's were the first model to support dual-channel DDR2. T40-T42's don't have dual-channel capability, so load it up as you wish.

Ditto. The T43 and T43p are the first t-series thinkpads to be dual channel capable. So load the slots up as you wish.
