Question about upgrading CPU

I have an A31, 1.6GHz. I have read here that I might be able to put up to a 2.6GHz in that machine but this ad on ebay says that the motherboard only supports up to 1.6GHz. Did IBM make changes to the main boards to facilitate the faster CPUs (I've seen up to 1.9 in later model A31s)?

As far as I know, the A31 and T30 use exactly the same Intel chipset that can take P4-M CPUs up to 2.6GHz.
