Why No 80g HD Available in 2373-KXU?

The 2373-KXU appears to be IBM's high end T42p with latest 2.0Ghz Centrino processor, 15 inch TFT Flexview screen, 1g of RAM, 60mb HD etc. all standard, but it is not available with the 80g HD that is available in some other T42p's. Anyone know why the 80g HD is not available, even as an option in this T42p?

IBM makes choices. Guess the picked the 60gb 7200rpm for slightly better speed. The hard drive not hard to upgrade and not that expensive.

For me the 60gb in my 2373KXU is OK as I don't store alot of files on it.

If you order from Bill he may be willing to work something out for you. Does nto hyrt to ask.

You may not remember but we used to talk a lot on the CS Photo BB & while I don't visit that site much anymore, when I do I see that you still contribute. We may have even talked on the phone once when I was up at Mayo. It's time I started converting transparencies to a digital format and storage is going to be a factor so in addition to getting a new digital body I'm also going to be upgrading both my laptop and desktop, and my best move for storage may be an exterior USB2 HD. I'm a fishing photog, live in Venice & you have a Grady as I recall. My local ford dealer is a personal friend. Walt

Yep still fishing on the Grady. The Florida Kingfish Tourney starts Thursday.

I use an external USB drive myself. It works very well. My image librabry is gettiing huge. When you upgrade the desktop a DVD writer is a good investment. I back my images up to both harddrive and DVD. DVD was a real lifesaver but I can see the need for even more in the future.

You will love the 2373KXU. The 60gb dive is more than enough for my needs. I take on the road to download and review my images that evening or during the day as required. Currently using a D1X and D2h. The D2h has become my favorite. PS runs very well on the KXU and you will not be unhappy.

Check into the fast USB2 external drives. They are small and download quickly. I am currently using the Maxtor 250gb USB drive.
