unusually long standby times

#1 Post by ryan42 » Tue Feb 28, 2006 8:17 pm

My T43p used to be sleeping after about 5 or 6 beeps. Lately it has been sometimes taking 15 or 17 beeps. Is this normal or what could be causing this?

Thanks!

The first two things that come to my mind would be ATI PowerPlay and Access Connections; what version of AC do you have? My T43 goes into suspend/standby within 3 seconds usually although I have noticed that when I switched through tons of networks and messed with the graphic settings alot it takes somewhat longer (around 10-15 seconds at the longest I have seen).

You can also try using Bootvis to see what processes are slowing down the Thinkpad when it goes into Suspend/Standby.

HTH :)

I met someone who looks a lot like you.
She does the things you do.
But she is an IBM.

I have the same problem (though I never had any beeps?):

When I close the lid, used to go into standby in few seconds, now it sometimes takes minutes, longest I clocked was almost 4 minutes before the moon lights on!

Clean install of XPP, model is T43p (2668-F8G). using the latest Omega drivers, and all the newest versions from Software Installer.

Hibernate works just fine, and everything else works fine.

edit: Changed from Omega drivers to ATI Catalyst and stantby problems are gone.
