Access > restore factory default question?

#1 Post by cantsleepcatswilleatme » Wed Mar 01, 2006 11:17 pm

so, what actually happens when you do this?

1. Do you lose your documents as stuff?
2. Will Ihave to reinstall all my programs?
3. Will this remove all my logins?

Somehow I deleted my print spooler (yes, I actually deleted it, not disableled it). I need to print something and was thinking that if I "Restored" that I would get it back......would I?

I'm nervous.

Possible solutions below. Look for additional info in Help and Support, off of the Start Menu.

First try System Restore.

Next try uninstalling, then reinstalling the driver for the printer.

Next you could try System File Checker. I don't know if it would work or not.

You might be able to use Add or Remove Programs > Add/Remove Windows Components to reinstall the Print Spooler.

By the sound of it you never took a Rescue and Recovery backup?

Sorry, I think that method was a wild goose chase. I was not logged in as Administrator to check Add/Remove Windows Components, to see what you could actually add. I checked just now, and I don't see Print Spooler as one of the options.

I do have a new idea that I think will work. I see that Microsoft has a hotfix that upgrades the Print Spooler. Try downloading and installing that. This is for XP. If you have a different version of Windows, let me know.

you know what? I found someone that had done this before and he told me how to fix it.....there was a STUPID Lexmark Service that was disabled. Funny thing was that it wasn't named anything that resembled a printer service. I just played around with them until I got it......

Thanks for the help though.
