I ordered a T61 since 7/22 using 10% eCoupon. Every time I check the order status, it shows this info without specs.

1 7662CT CONFIGURED SYSTEM
08/09/07 $963.90 $963.90
Status: In process Estimated shipping date: 8/9

Now I dont have proof of specs to complain if IBM dont delivery exactly what I customized.

Orderd it the 19th so it took 11 days from order until I got it. Even seems like I got the NMB keyboard, at least if the different versions look the same as for the T60 in this thread:
http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=44310

Got it with a T7500, 100 GB 7200 RPM-disk and 2 GB RAM and Vista Ultimate.

Count your blessings. I ordered one on the 11th, and I just got an delay notice. Did you order from Lenovo?

EDIT: For anyone else that got their T61p delayed, I called Lenovo, and the guy told me that it's the LCDs that are holding them up. He said they'd ship mine next week.

Sounds like the European version ship as they should, while the American versions have been delayed. UK, Sweden have had deliveries and soon Germany but none(?) in US.

I think it's because of the customization available in the US versions. The ones in Europe were probably pre-built.

And my order status shows 8/30 as well, but the guy on the phone said next week.

For what it's worth, my T16p, ordered on July 13, is still showing an estimated ship date of tomorrow. A few days ago the order status page changed from showing all my customizations to just showing "Configured System" and my ultra bay battery in the order.

@Pocket Aces
Did you order from Lenovo?
No not direct, through a wholesale distributor.

I've had a look this morning and they have both the XP and Vista versions in stock.

Well the T61p 6460-6XG turned up as expected.
First impressions are OK, although it feels as though the front right of the thing, (arrow keys side), is higher as the left; there about 1mm of movement when I press down on the corner.
It is definitely quicker than the other T60 and T61 ThinkPads I've had my grubby fingers on, impressively quicker. :D

Well, my 8889CTO T61 (14" 4:3 SXGA+) just shipped. I ordered it on 7/20. So that's less than two weeks from order till it shipped. Not too shabby, but I'll have to wait a few weeks before I can actually get home and play with it since I'm traveling now.

Which part of the Lenovo site did you order from? Mine got delayed until 8/20 from orig. 8/2

cancelled order - 15" t61 - somewhat of a rant.

I was told on the phone by 2 different reps that my thinkpad was delayed to a usb super wideband component. (Laura & Chris) Not the screen... Ordered on July 13, original ship date, August 1. Yesterday they updated to August 30 without contacting me (even through email). I found out because I've been clicking on the order status three times a day.

I called and sat on hold for 26 minutes before I got a rep. Then I sat on hold again for 5 minutes. Then she wanted to put me on hold again. I told her to call me back. To her credit, I got a call back 30 mins later.

Then I sat on hold again for 3-4 mins, talked to a sales rep, and sat on hold again while he re-researched my problem (3-4 mins). Then he offered me a 512MB memory upgrade. I told him I didn't need it (I already bought 4G at newegg). I counter offered - why not meet halfway on a processor upgrade instead? Then I sat on hold again for another 3-4 mins. His "final offer" was 512MB of ram and a "critical build". But the caveat was that he still couldn't guarantee delivery within 2 weeks.

My interim email communications with Lenovo requesting a rebate for the price difference (it dropped in July) were unsatisfactory. They replied with a stock response without answering my question.

So I cancelled my order. If this is how lenovo deals with customers I don't want to be their customer. I ordered a Dell latitude 830 after I got off the phone with lenovo. Fortunately all the time on hold allowed me to spec out a nice replacement machine. :)

I just ordered online from the EPP site.

That's weird, because my original ship date was 8/8 and it never got delayed or moved or anything until I got the notice that it actually shipped on 8/1.

I have four t61p systems on order - they were supposed to ship 8/1. They did not, and now these have a September ship date (all ordered around July 12). Calling them is a frustrating experience, different answers from web site, from their India order status call center, from the automated sent email and from sales. The supervisors are "not available". They do not know when they will ship.

The signs are not good - they do not seem to get their act together. I am searching for alternatives to the lenovo machine. The WSJ has a good review of a multitasking software (FUSION) to run Vista on the Mac without slow downs. Maybe a Dell or a Sony.

I ordered on 12 July with a 31 July estimated ship date. Then, when Lenovo dropped the RAM price, I revised the same order and the ship date slipped to 21 August. Later, I found a coupon that saved me another 11%. So I rebooked on 26 July with new ship date of 28 August and cancelled the order scheduled to ship 21 August. I'm waiting.

On the bright side, by taking advantage of a time limted offer, and by buying RAM after-market, I saved $660 from the 12 July order.

I've already received, from other sellers than Lenovo, my 7K200 drive, 4 gb of Crucial RAM, and a 8 GB Express Card. Come on T61p and join the fun!

I ordered on the EPP on 7/30, and the ship date is 8/30.

This is for a T61p with 2G RAM, 1G turbo cache, 100G 7200rpm HD, Vista Ultimate 32, ABGN WiFi, Core 2Duo 2.2Ghz, WUXGA.

I really really hope it ships sooner than a month from now.

ordered the same T61p on 7/20 and ship date is 8/22.
whats strange is after I placed this order, there was a pending charge on my CC from lenovo. Just checked my CC and there is no pending charge anymore. For some reason they released the money. Now I am worrying that they will cancel my order.

I think they can only reserve the funds for a week or two without actually charging, and they can't charge until they start building/ship.

I ordered web direct on 7/16 a 15.4" T61 6462-CTO highly customized with an original ship date of 8/2.

Price dropped about $40 on 7/19 but the ship date would have gotten pushed back to 8/23, so I let it go as planned for the 8/2 ship date at the higher price (hey, it was only a couple of Andy Jacksons to save 3 critical weeks in delivery time).

The unit shipped on schedule on 8/2 from HK and sits now at customs in Calif per UPS tracking.

Expect to have it early next week .... very impressive.

My CC has not been charged as of tonight .... probably waiting to clear customs first. Let's hope my post delivery experience goes just as well.
