trent9009, tt took only 3 day to delivery from HK to my door. So I think you will receive it by next Monday.
I canceled my previous order after 2 day and get the 10% coupon and 5% discount for Visa member for another one by 22 July. The total duration for my order is just 11 days including processing and shipping time. impressive enough :D

Maybe this has been answered before.

With an "estimated ship date" of August 28, 2007, I spend way too much time on:

https://www.directlenovo.com/orderstatus/secured/

For some reason, everything shows up on my order status site except for the extended warranty with ThinkPad Protection.

Is this true for everyone? How come?
First Thinkpad 755CX in 1995. First IBM: PC 1982 8088 w 64K RAM, dual floppy. Currently in use:
X230T with Win8Pro x64, i7, 500gb ssd; W700 WUXGA RAID 1 Blu-Ray W7Pro x64, occasionally a T61p with Win7Pro x64

Mine was of so much joy and delight that I forgot for being almost two months in the waiting line... congrats to all of you happy new owners! :D

I just ordered a T61p this past Saturday with an estimated ship date of 9.3.2007. I am a little upset that the build is going to take so long.

The specs are as follows:

2.2ghz Core 2 Duo
15.4 WUXGA display
160gb 5400 rpm hd
9 cell battery
2 gb of ram
No fingerprint reader (useless.)
Windows XP pro

I am in dire need of a computer and I have to wait an entire month for it
 .

Hopefully it doesn't get pushed back some more. What is the deal with Lenovo?

eecon wrote:I ordered web direct on 7/16 a 15.4" T61 6462-CTO highly customized with an original ship date of 8/2.

Price dropped about $40 on 7/19 but the ship date would have gotten pushed back to 8/23, so I let it go as planned for the 8/2 ship date at the higher price (hey, it was only a couple of Andy Jacksons to save 3 critical weeks in delivery time).

The unit shipped on schedule on 8/2 from HK and sits now at customs in Calif per UPS tracking.

Expect to have it early next week .... very impressive.

My CC has not been charged as of tonight .... probably waiting to clear customs first. Let's hope my post delivery experience goes just as well.
My 15.4" T61 arrived today (Monday morning) only 2 business days after shipping out of HK, and I only paid for standard ground shipping.

Very impressive, but I'm not surprised because IBM also shipped my T42 with equally impressive on-time performance nearly 3 years ago. So far so good, regarding the hand-off from IBM to Lenovo.

Now I'm comparing it side-by-side with my T42 15" Flexview 1400x1050 and I am not disappointed with the display quality on the new T61. The viewing angles may not be as wide, but the brightness and visual crispness is comparable for my eyes.

The keyboards feel nearly the same, but then again I am not a speed typist.

General build quality of the T61 is almost as good as my IBM T42, with the nod given to the T42 only because the T61's post-recall 9-cell Sanyo 92P1132 battery wiggles about 2 -3 mm back and forth when latched and the display latches down some what looser than the T42.

Pure CPU performance is stronger for the 2.2 T7500 Duo 2 processor, as I expected. It seems to have twice the CPU processing power of the T42's 1.8 P-M. This is somewhat subjective ..... I was running a high CPU utilizing engineering program on both units .... 98-99% on the T42 and about 50% on the T61 ..... both units are running WinXP SP2 Pro.

Also, the fan on the T61 is noticeably quieter than the T42 when both CPUs are running at 100% trying to do similar tasks.

Now I need to decide whether to do a 'custom' factory reset recovery on the T61 (from the service partition) and selectively 'not' install some of the 3rd party software from the factory. I prefer different security programs and CD/DVD burning programs. I've read elswhere here that the latest T6x's give you this option now when doing a factory reset but I'm somewhat skeptical that this may foul up something else on my new system? Maybe the standard control panel add-remove programs is the way to go? Also not sure how effective the System Migration Assistant will work? I have lots of time on my hands to manually transfer settings, etc and maybe that's the cleanest way to go?

The T61 is going to spend about 95% of it's time on the new Lenovo advanced mini-docking station that I also ordered but not yet received. And no wireless roaming, except occassionally while on business trips (via the company's VPN). I will also be using the Lenovo enhanced external USB keyboard while docked, USB travel mouse and a 22" WS external 1650x1050 LCD monitor .... just like I did with my old T42, except I can now keep the lid closed and power up from the mini-dock's on/off button, etc .... at least that's what is claimed by others ... we shall see.

Generally speaking, I like my new T61, but only more time will tell.

I don't think you can order a T61p without it in the US.

It's worse than that. I started with a ship date of August 1. When I woke up on the 2nd I had an email from Lenovo with the new ship date. They didn't tell me they had to delay my order until after it was supposed to ship. Surely they knew before then.

I can't even cancel my order and get a different one or I'll lose the 10% back that AMEX gave since that expired at the end of July. I just hope I don't have to make too much trouble to get that.

First off my order date: 07/24/07

Twice now its been held up since it was shipped on 8-1-2007 from SHENZHEN, CN. Once in GUANGZHOU, CN and now in LOUISVILLE, KY, US. (It is actually in "special clearances" in Kentucky for some reason, as I must be one of those Big Dog Terrierists intent on world domination or something)

Well, UPS says: LOUISVILLE, KY, US 08/07/2007 2:23 P.M. A SPECIAL CUSTOMS DELAY IS REQUIRED FOR THIS LIVE ENTRY / BROKERAGE RELEASED SHIPMENT. SHIPMENT IS SUBMITTED TO CLEARING AGENCY FOR FURTHER CLEARANCE

Which of course means: Your package is in the UPS system and has a rescheduled delivery date of 08/09/2007.

But considering its still a Day before they estimated the shipment... ehh, what can I complain about.

Please let us know if that 9 CELL LI-ION BATTERY wiggles or is loose. Mine wiggles about 2mm on a similar T61 just received.

I have three batteries.

The 9 Cell I bought with the machine, it rocks in and out about 1mm on the right side (when flipped over) FRU:92P1133

The 9 Cell I bought from a discount broker, but still a Lenovo Battery rocks less than 1mm more like .7mm, but this one is a FRU: 42T5245

The 6 Cell I bought from the same discount broker is the a completely after market one from Primary Power (I think) doesn't rock more than about a business card thickness.

edit:
I've just really looked at all the battery casings. The newest casing is redesigned. It doesn't let the right hand side (while flipped over) catch go in as far. The older design batteries have a slightly deeper pocket in them... but not much.

I am betting this is your issue, your battery case is even more shallow than mine and maybe your TP case is a tiny bit inside the spec giving you a worst case.

BTW it was delivered about 6:25PM.

Don't get too excited. There's a good chance it will be delayed.

A shipping delay doesn't bother me-I still have my T60p and numerous other Thinkpads to use in the meantime.

Uh, weaksauce? I intentionally ordered it with a base hard drive, operating system, and memory configuration because I have the needed upgrades here ready to be installed-no need in paying for something I already own, right? I also don't see the need in paying an additional $440 for a .4MHz increase in speed-especially when the 2GHz C2D processor is much, much more than adequate for just about anyone's usage.

Next time, keep your useless arsehole comments to yourself.

Really .... Wow that's cool ... I did not realize that the newer systems with separate cards were doing that now ... nice.

Yes, "In Process" is normal. From what I've gathered, it means that they're waiting for parts to build your system. I don't know for sure, but I think it goes straight from that to shipped.

My T61 shipped in about 2.5 weeks

another data point:

Ordered T61 from US CA 7/21 estimated ship 9/6 (!), but actually shipped 8/8 (yesterday). So I think they are being conservative on the ship estimates, as others have suggested.
