I got frustrated and e-mailed Lenovo. Their response:
If a ThinkPad T60 gets allocated to you, we see this item shipping
within 2 weeks. If not, then it will take an additional 2 weeks for the item to ship.
That was yesterday. Today, I checked the status page for fun, and voila... My 5/18 date got moved to 5/29. Maybe it's kharma.
My purchase date was 4/21. It's a custom-built 2613EKU.

Got the 2007-62U today.
Origally ordered a 2007-4CU and DVDRW on 4/11, but changed the order to a 2007-62U the day before yesterday when I called in to check the order status and knew from a representive that they had a 62U in stock(some one canceled the order I think), so I asked to take advantage of the 62U.
Here is what I got: ALPS keyboard, SONY battery, Hydis LCD, Panasonic DVDRW and Atheros a/b/g.

At least in one case, Lenovo is working just fine: with original estimate of 3-6 week wait, ordered 2623D6U on 4/25 online- estimated shipment at time of order was 5/15; received today! Spent more time in customs than in transport. Don't know whether it made any difference, but ordered strictly of the rack (no options).
Just spoke to a friend over in China who ordered a 200783C (14.1" T60p, V5200) for me. Apparently they have a big week-long national holiday May 1-6, which could potentially be related to the delays. I was told that mine would ship as soon as the holiday is over.
My 200783C was ordered from a 3rd party vendor in China by my friend, so I have no order/shipping status. I'm just going by what he tells me.

Looks like I'm the unlucky one since I did a custom build. Did anyone else here with a custom-built T60 that actually got theirs before their estimated ship date, or within a reasonable time? 27 days was long enough, and now it's been extended to 38 days... and I'm not even near that original 27-day deadline.
FFS! [does this count as profanity?]zzyss wrote:Just spoke to a friend over in China who ordered a 200783C (14.1" T60p, V5200) for me. I ordered on 20/4 and expected (on Euclid site) is 5/5... Now you're telling me they won't get it until the week after?
The other thing I don't understand is that another poster ordered the same model from Lenovo 2 days before me and received it 3 days later. It's been 13 days and I haven't received mine. Fair enough, I ordered through a reseller, but something does not make sense...
PS Goofy, that does truly suck, mate.

Most of the Topseller models (2623) seem to be shipping very quickly...
... Except for the 2623-DDU which seems to get mixed results (though it is on sale at the moment -- what the?).

It's very likely that some one ordered the model but later cancelled it, so the guy didn't have to wait for the factory to build one and Lenovo just sent him the one they had.
At least that's what happened to me.

*grumble*
So I talked to my liason at Lenovo, and now he's saying that not only can they not give me a firm shipping date, but that the warehouse is saying that the backlog on my laptop will not be cleared enough to the point where my laptop gets built until the end of may.
Tomorrow will be 9 weeks since I ordered it - the end of may will put it up to 12 weeks. I'm REALLY getting [censored] off. I know that the 6-8 weeks I was told was an 'estimate', but at what point does it simply become malice?

Here's an idea I had: Just buy a prebuit TopSeller model for now, play with it for 30 days, then return it. When I returned my z60m, they tell you that it's 10 days from the day of issue of the RMA, which isn't true. You have 30 full days from the day it ships for Lenovo to RECEIVE the product back. So I had my z60m for about 20 days, then FedExed it back for $20 (13lbs). That'll buy you some time if you really need to have SOMETHING to work with.PreZ wrote:Tomorrow will be 9 weeks since I ordered it - the end of may will put it up to 12 weeks. TOO FUNNY! After all my complaints in this thread, and after just my last post, guess what I got in my inbox? A shipping confirmation from Lenovo! So it was shipped on 5/4 (UPS tracking # not valid yet), which is WAY before the 5/18 original est. ship date!!!
Regardless of the delay, I knew I wanted the T60, even after my 1.5+ months wait for my second z60m order (and since I got EPP pricing), but this is too good to be true.
Just under 15 days for my custom-built baby. Can't wait!

You ordered yours custom and on the 21/4. I ordered mine standard on 20/4 and still no news from Euclid (expected delivery _today_ Ohio time).
I'm going to bed now (we're 10 hrs behind OH time). Hopefully I will get some news in the morning... If I sleep.

Okay, so I got a little bored this afternoon and decided to do some analysis on the data in this thread.

I may keep this graph going on the side, while I think it is useful. If you think it's useful too, perhaps you can help: there are a whole heap of people that I do not have data for at the moment:
Some of you have obviously not received yours yet. However, if you have, either fill in the blanks above, or post up the deets:
1. Model: (e.g. 2623-DDU, 2007-63U, etc.)
2. Order date
3. Shipped date
4. Received date
Either 3 or 4 will do, but it would be good to have both.
Cheers,
astro.

Mine was shipped 5/4 (HK time), and will be delivered 5/8 here in the San Francisco Bay Area (stupid weekend!). So, as expected, it was upgraded to express shipping. Don't know why they do that every time. The promo was only free "ground" shipping. I'm not complaining.

I suggest you bug Lenovo. After I sent them a complain, they responded with this:
We have submitted this order to our Critical List for express processing.
Who knows, maybe it actually worked for me. Try it out! (I used their regular "contact us" email form, but feel free to complain over the phone, as they're pretty receptive and friendly.)

I'll play along as well. Ordered my 2623DDU non-customized on 05/02. Estimated ship date 5/23 as shown on my order status. Let's see if they stick to that date, so far the est. ship date has not changed since I placed my order. Called my rep a couple of days ago, and he stated there were approx. 300 of the 2623DDUs on backorder in the system. stated that the 1gig modules were holding up the systems. I'm not buying that at all, i've also read here that the ati fireGL cards were causing the delays?? Has anyone got a definitive answer from someone at Lenova who actually knows what's going on. These reps don't seem to have the access or authority to give us the real story. You would think a company like Lenova would have real-time access to their supply chain and be able to pinpoint the problem immediately.

BEWARE! I was overcharged!
My original purchase confirmation INCLUDED the Atheros wifi card that I added to the system. It was shipped separately, so their computers charged it separately... but it was never deducted from the original total! So basically, I was charged for the card twice,
Then, there was some extra $30+ charge. I called in and asked, and supposedly, their "computer" calculated the total, and my quote was off! What the hecK? My quote was whatever was on their site, so how can it be off? I suspect that maybe some parts went up in prices after I made the purchase...
Regardless, their "customer advocacy" team called me and said not to worry about it, because the $60+ total charge wasn't a lot, and that it'll be refunded to me. Whatever was in my order confirmation is what they'll charge me only.
So... check your credit card statements!

Thanks all for replying.
I have updated the chart with model numbers and my post with the details I already have. If you are on the list, just check that the details are correct -- if they are, save yourself a post.
PreZ, andy, agey -- I will probably add you guys to the chart (with bars that go all the way up
) because it is significant that you have been waiting a long time.
). Having a look at the chart, we haven't had something with 1GB being ordered/shipped in the last few weeks...
EDIT: except for kimx's 2007-63G, which was ordered on 30 Mar.

myrighteye, thanks for the info. Interesting about the 1GB RAM modules. They should be the same across all T60s, so you would think that this would hold up anyone who has ordered a model that comes with 1GB (including memyrighteye wrote:Called my rep a couple of days ago, and he stated there were approx. 300 of the 2623DDUs on backorder in the system. stated that the 1gig modules were holding up the systems.

i think this is quite ridiculous. There seems that not many people are receiving their laptops at this time. How can a company, that is lacking resources to handle current backordered items, post a sale to obvious attract more people to make orders? I can understand if it is just one component that affects a certain percentage of models, but a shortage in ram affects all the models.
I am getting quite frustrated with this company's professionalism. When i called lenovo, before i ordered the laptop, to ask questions, i was bounced from ibm to lenovo to ibm again. The laptop themselves
are probably awesome but the price we pay is also for customer service and professionalism. It not like we are dealing with dell.
Am i the only one that feels like this?

Great work, astro! I think you should include a couple of different views, to show longest to shortest (left to right) so you might be able to see a trend amongst the models ordered, and also a statistical mean and median line.
Not sure if your current chart shows chronological order (from left to right). But I think that isn't particularly useful except to show that Lenovo's performance has actually generally *improved* since the beginning of the year.

T60p (200784U) - standard (no upgrades... yet)
The stupid thing (re: the 2623DDU's) is that they sent me a 1gb RAM module back in March. I asked them to either:
a) send me the system without RAM and I'll install it myself and buy an extra module (obviously subtracting the cost of the RAM I already purchased).
b) put a smaller memory module in (without charge since I'd have to replace it anyway) and ship it.
c) let me send my 1gb module back so it could be installed in my machine.
According to the 'Executive Relations' person I'm talking to:
a) is not possible because if its not got ram its not a 'complete' system (I guess there might be warrenty issues or something).
b) is not possible because 'the high end graphics card requires the larger memory' (which to me not only sounds like BS, but the intention is that I'd rip out that module and replace it anyway).
c) is not possible for who knows why, but it was rejected.
Oh, and has anyone else got an email to the tune of:
I've obviously sent off another angry email to Lenovo due to the fact I got a second one of these emails, and in effect they're trying to re-start my '30 days of anticipation' again. It probably won't have much effect, however I guess it makes me feel better at least putting SOMEONE's feet to the fire. Especially since with the exception of two others on this forum, everyone else who ordered the same model on this thread got it faster.

If so, I wonder if any legal obligation could be attached to this (since the word 'anticipate' does not have the wriggle room 'estimated' does)? Especially since the first email I got was April 14th, so by May 14th (this sunday) the 30 days would have elapsed, right? Ordered: May 4th, 2006
Shipped: May 8th, 2006
Oddly enough, the projected ship date was supposed to be May 18th, 2006. UPS doesn't say anything where the machine is coming from, or how fast it's supposed to get here. It just says Express Delivery Confirmation.
Anyone interested in a T43? :0)
