Delays can also occur with the suppliers that IBM/Lenovo rely upon; if they try to pull it off just-in-time and the suppliers don't have enough of the product, then there will be delays.

One of my family members worked at IBM awhile ago and even then they had some issues getting certain suppliers to pony up the products at an acceptable rate to meet shipping deadlines.

Apparently, the same thing is happening to Apple as they have put off the launch of another MacBook Pro to further build their stockpiles so they won't run dry when customers finally begin to order.

See; http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2006/05/10 ... eek_delay/

It would be an easy decision if I could find a 2623DDU in stock from a reseller. I know CDW had a few a month ago, but I've had no luck finding any 15" T60Ps in stock. Anyone know where I can purchase a 2623DDU immediately other than ebay? I'm quickly losing faith in their 3-6 weeks shipping estimates!
YES!!!! on www.euclidcumputers.com

click on notebooks and type the model on search field and it take you directly to the laptop for safe in about 5 to 10 days!!

Cheers for the info mate...

Unfortunately it is a little frustrating for me at the same time, I ordered the same model from Euclid on the same day -- just got an email from them saying the ship date has slipped to 20/5. :(

Finally! My laptop is showing 'Shipped 5/11/06' on my order screen. Can't track it yet and I'm not seeing a CC debit yet, so I'm not going to get my hopes up TOO much, however at least its some kind of progress - I guess I'll believe it when I can track it.

Assuming this is correct, that puts my wait at 9 weeks 6 days.

Dont worry, it'll be trackable in a day or two. Mine showed shipped, and the tracking number was just listed as "1Z" for about a day. It finally changed to a real number and I got it a few days later

Shipped May 11, 2006. something like 9-10 weeks. It shouldn't take this long, but now that i know it is shipped i'm very happy

Ok folks. Don't hate me or anything, but my D7U shipped today. I ordered it on May 8th. 4 days to ship. This had been estimated to ship on June 2nd too. Awesome.

Some more stats to add to this thread:

Model ordered: 2007-83U

Date ordered: 18-April-2006
Estimated ship date: 15-May-2006

Talked w/Lenovo this morning, and it is due to ship sometime between the 15th & the 17th.

This was a model which went on sale, and the original expected shipping timeframe was 1-3 weeks.

Don't like having to wait 4 weeks, but (from reading other posts in this thread) I suppose it ain't too bad of a wait.

Mine shipped today!!! Hopefully gets here soon. I initially ordered the D7U, but I wanted to get more screen real estate, so I just got the DDU instead.

Looks like all of a sudden, people's machines are shipped. Maybe they do them in batches, or their vendors finally have parts that came in so Lenovo can build some more.

Is PreZ's wait (and patience) the longest of everyone here? I think he deserves a prize. Or at least some compensation from Lenovo. :)

Wow -- This is five or six posts of really good news in a row. Seems like all the long-term waiters (PreZ, ageyf, andy) have all had their DDUs ship. I see no reason now why my 2007-63U shouldn't ship too!

Give it another shot -- my wife's 2007-63U is trackable now. Record shows it is sitting in HK, China now. Also, the shipping method got updated from "UPS Ground" to "Express Delivery Confirmation". I am saying goodbye to my Mac now.

Girt,

Congrats on the order being shipped. It's quite sad that I have to congratulate you on receiving your notebook, but those 2623DDUs are hard to come by in the past couple of months. When did you place your order?

edit: I saw from your previous post that your ordered March 25th. That's promising, seems like all the Feb and March orders for the 2623-DDU have cleared the queue. Anybody who ordered a 2623-DDU in April receive a shipping notice yet?

thanks

Update to my shipping status...

Model Ordered: 2007-83U (T60p)

Date Ordered: 18-April-2006
Estimated Ship Date: 15-May-2006

Acutal Ship Date: 12-May-2006

Shipping method upgraded (without asking) from UPS ground to UPS express.

Woo hoo!

As others have pointed out -- I think Lenovo ships their laptops in batches (apparently after a batch of 3rd party parts arrive into their warehouses) -- because many folks are seeing their units shipped within the last couple days.

Sorry, but all I can think to say after seeing this is '69 dude! :)

So far my laptop hasn't left Hong Kong aaccording to the UPS tracking number I'm refreshing about every 30 seconds :P

To be honest, I was really starting to lose it with Lenovo, and even considering asking someone legally minded whether their 'anticipate within 30 days' constituted a binding contract. That said, getting upset with them can sometimes yeild financial benefits.

For example, the price of the laptop went down first $250, then a further $550 since the time I bought it - and I got a 10% discount because the shipping was taking so [censored] long. I had to call them to get each of these discounts applied to my order, however I guess patience paid off in this case, to the tune of about $1k (once you factor in tax). [mods: I'm quoting differences in prices that were published on the Lenovo website, no EPP or anything, I assume this is OK]

Not that I wouldn't have gladly paid the extra to get the laptop sooner, but I guess this is a bit of a silver lining. I just hope Lenovo's supply issues are done with - because a co-worker decided to take the plunge and buy the same model I got (2623DDU) just last week or so - and he has an estimate of 3-6 weeks, and is far less patient than I am.

I DO wonder how many customers Lenovo lost because of these extended shipping times though - I even considered cancelling my order and getting a different laptop that would ship faster at one point. However I didn't really see any other laptop that could compare to the T60p that had all the features it has, with the brand trust (its still IBM to me), for close to the price. Especially after the aforementioned drops in price.

PreZ - now waiting patiently for UPS to move his package to this side of the globe.

Don't worry, once it starts moving, it moves [censored] fast. My wife's 2007-63U is now sitting on the other side of the SF bay (Oakland, CA; we're living in Menlo Park, CA) within 48 hours of its depature scan from HK. It took a pretty weird route, HK --> Alaska --> Ontario, CA (near LA) --> Oakland, CA; passing the arctic circle first, going way south by 600 mile, and came back all in 48 hours. It took only 2-3 hours to get thru the US custom. UPS guy told us is will appear on our door by Monday.

Where did you order it from?
T60: 2623D7U - T2500(2GHz), 2GB RAM, 100GB 5400rpm HD, 14" SXGA+, 128MB ATI X1400, 9 cell battery + ultrabay battery, Intel 802.11abg, bluetooth, Verizon Sierra CDMA2000

From the Lenovo web site...this tracks about the same time as it took from order to receipt of my T41 a couple years ago. I'm pretty sure they aggregate orders coming over from HK, and mine came in through Louisville if I remember reading the UPS tracking site correctly, but I don't know what if anything all that means.

That's an interesting idea -- though (based on gut instinct) I'm not sure I concur :) .

That'd be quite a difficult way to run a customer-satisfaction oriented business -- just shipping units once they have enough to make it worth their while.

Although, now that I think about it, some of the units which state a "3-6 week" wait kind of follow that logic.

I really don't know though -- I'm just sittin' on speculation here.
