Hey guys,
I finally got my 2623DDU yesterday (woohoo!).
I have a colleague who also ordered the 2623DDU on May 2nd, however Lenovo is giving him the run around with shipping. And they say its 'not possible' that people who ordered after him could have gotten their laptops shipped.
Since several of you have mentioned ordering after May 2nd (the 2623DDU) and have already had your laptops shipped, would some of you mind sending me a PM with your order number? You don't need to send me your customer ID (and I can't lookup the order myself without the customer number)?
Lenovo can look up based only on order number, and being able to prove to them that orders placed later than May 2nd for the same model laptop have indeed been shipped should be enough to cut through the BS Lenovo is telling my colleague.
If you're uncomfortable giving me such information, I understand, however this would help my colleague greatly.

I hope this post helps people who are in the same situation.
I ordered two 200783U's with no special configurations on 4/25. They were on sale and had what I was looking for. Plus I figured I could trust what a company this big was saying. This was a business buy and not a personal buy.
I was told they would be at my doorstep in 8 business days. Yeah right.
Here is the list of excuses I received as to why my machines are not here yet:
- Chinese factory decides to shut down for a week for a Holiday.
- 1 Gig ram is not available
- Free 512Mb ram not available
Here's the interesting part on this one. To "speed things up" my salesperson told me that they could send it as an external item once the back order is over, and I should get the notebook quicker.
-System is supposed to ship last Monday 05/08
System is now 10 business days from last Monday (which based upon estimations is the truth.) I called again and the salesperson told me that I am now on the "critical list"
Now, get this. On last Saturday 05/13, I get this message:
> Chris,
> I came in on Saturday and there was a message in my e-mail inbox that the order system was down for the weekend due to maintenance (unfortunately we didn't find out until it
was down). What this means is that
nothing shipped over the weekend.
Both your system and Bill's is still scheduled to leave in 24-36 hours.
They blamed this whole fiasco on SAP.
O.k. I figure I can wait another day or so.
Sooo, yesterday I call and find out that one system (the one I did not modify to speed things up) has been shipped, and the other one will not ship until the end of the month.
By this time, I am quite upset, and this poor salesperson who had the unfortunate luck of answering the call now has to handle me.
The salesperson forwards me over to the Customer Action Team, and a very nice person answers the phone and explains to me that they will give me a 10% discount, and put me on the critical list to get my notebook quicker. I then tell her that I am on the critical list. She kind of chuckles and says "um no you are not. We the CAT are the ONLY ones who can do that. Who told you you were added?" I said my salesperson's name and she asked me when I called and I told her I had emails stating the whole thing. She pauses and says "you have emails?" She puts me on hold. I get a little more upset.
Needless to say, I am ready to cancel the order, buy something else to tide me over and shrug it off. I mean for 6,000.00, this is what you get?
Oh the other thing she said was that we had to accept the already shipped one. If we did not accept it, then we would be responsible for the 15% restocking fee. You have to accept it, and start the RMA process to get a refund.
When you get referred to the CAT, you can no longer speak with your sales rep anymore. Their rules.
Hope this helps.
Chris.

Absurdities...
I just thought I would add my story to this list... I orded a new t60p (2623DDU) online on April 13... with 3 mods: an extra gig of memory, an extra battery, and a 3-year warranty. As of last week (1 month), it still had not shipped, and the estimated ship date was changed to June 8! So I called Lenovo... and I spoke with a great salesperson who assured me that they were waiting for video cards, and that my gig and battery were not causing the delay....
Just for kicks, I decided to try an experiment, and ordered another t60p, without any mods, last Thursday night, May 11. Well, guess what? That machine has been IN MY HANDS since yesterday, May 16. My other order is still "In Process".
I called Lenovo today and canceled the earlier order, and let them know of the absurdity of the situation. The salesperson I talked to agreed... but in any case... Lenovo needs to make some changes to its order fullfillment process...

Latest charts. I managed to dig up a whole bunch of info from other threads, so around 20 more data points have been added.

The first chart shows how delivery times have changed since the start of the year. The bar starts when the person ordered and finishes when it was shipped.
The second chart is just wait times, in descending order.

Having access to insider information, I would like to say that uncanny as it sounds, all of those things were true. They weren't trying to blame SAP, it was the internal SAP system that went down. There was a 1 week national holiday in China in the first week of May. If you go a couple of pages back, you'll see why in a post by astro (Hahah... ok, that wasn't really the reason, but there was definitely a delay at that time). There really was a system outage on the weekend, RAM shortages, etc. etc.UnivHovrTech wrote:Here is the list of excuses I received as to why my machines are not here yet:
Sure, that's still no excuse for your getting the ThinkPads late, but it isn't the poor salesperson's fault that a whole series of unfortunate events all happened to occur at the same time.

Erk... my T60p arrived with my friend today. I thought I was getting a 2007-83C, but as it turns out I ended up getting a 2007-84U!!!
I'm not sure exactly which day he put in the order, but it ended up being almost exactly 1 month from order to arrival. Now to wait for it to come across to Australia...
I wonder when/if they will ever launch EVDO service here (the difference between 200783U and 200784U unit is only the EVDO, it seems)

Good stuff mate, hope you get it soon. There was some talk previously about whether the EVDO card is 'locked' (yes, there is EVDO / CDMA2000 in Oz)... I don't think that discussion got anywhere, though.zzyss wrote:Erk... my T60p arrived with my friend today. I thought I was getting a 2007-83C, but as it turns out I ended up getting a 2007-84U!!!

I just ordered mine on May 21st... and was shocked to find out these wait times. I'm aching for mine already, and when I called in they guaranteed it would take at least 3-4 weeks... could be more.
Mine's a 2007-72U I also purchased the mini-docking station. I'll post when I finally receive it.
I can't believe a company can operate like this. Dell would have it out by the next day.

I ordered a T60p w/ 15-inch display (2007-92u) on 14-April and it was finally delivered on 18-May (34 days)
I paid the $50 for express shipping, and, according to the tracking record the package was delivered twice to the wrong address! UPS finally got it back and sent it to me.
Sadly, the T60p was defective. After warming up for 20 minutes or so it blue-screened with any number of different errors under Windows and showed PCI bus problems when booting Linux.
Lenovo is taking this one back and I've ordered another one which is supposedly in stock in Hong Kong.
