Hello everybody,

I'm not very glad to read these experiences of shipment delay. I ordered a T60P on 10/20 from a small third party vendor, who claimed to have it in stock, when I called him. It should arrive tomorrow or the day after - I still have hope! :)

I have not received mine yet... and bad luck... machines bought as of tomorrow will have a bonus to upgrade to Vista for free...! I checked in the Lenovo's USA page and a configuration similar to the one I ordered (Core duo), except Core 2 Duo and DVD R/W (mine comes with combo) costs 15% less than what I paid at 09/13/06.... just one and a half month ago.... is it fair? What's going on with you Lenovo? That's No good for your commercial image. ( My wife is starting to say: "Lerrobo"... aka: I steal you in spanish...)

I hate reading these horror stories about delivery times!!! I just ordered a T60 14" on 10/25...sale person checked stock on parts and said 8-10 business days (about Nov 1-3), or quite possibly sooner, but he wouldn't make any promises. The email I received the next day says shipping 11/20! I emailed them back and told them the date "change" and they said it will be what your sales rep said, 11/20. I emailed back and said you did not read my email; he said 11/1-11/3! So I don't know if either one of them is telling the truth! I ordered a leather bag for it and that ship date went from 10/27 to 10/30, so I am hoping that they will ship them BOTH 10/30 which would get the T60 here by 11/1-3. I'll let you know what happens!

My order has been delayed again, I talked to the Lenovo's regional e-commerce chieff and settled on next tuesday (Halloween...) as deadline, if it doesn't arrive on such date, my order will be canceled, letting me to make a switch to a Core2 duo, which in the last end is a not so bad deal... so I am crossing my fingers now, for a new Lenovo's delay! ... such is life... as the sea waves coming in and out. ( Ying and Yang for you my dear chineese friends...)

It was $1794 before taxes and free shipping...directly from Lenovo. They had the $20 upgrade to 100 GB HD, FREE upgrade to 9 cell battery, and FREE upgrade to Dual layer Ultrabay Slim DVD drive.

Thanks, you got a very good price... it's a configuration superior to what I've ordered, only that I paid US$ 1.840 before tax... these haven't been my lucky days indeed...

Thanks again my dear friend for your support and highly spirited wishes, including your prayer... you are the kind of people that makes this forum great... almost like a huge family... at last we share a common source of joy the Thinkpads. I can assure you that you will be delighted with your brand new machine, the excitment you will have when you will receive and open the box and hold the lappy in your hands has no par... meanwhile and to help you in the waiting days I recommend you to get and read this excellent book ( which I have in my hands reading for the third time) : " ThinkPad a different shade of Blue - Building a Successful IBM Brand " by J. Gerry Purdy and Deborah A. Dell. Sams Publishing.

I saw that book the other day and wondered if it was worth reading...thank you for the info, I may have to check the library for it.

Yes, these forums are a wonderful way to exchange ideas, frustrations, and joys of achievement, and "meet" people from all over. I know I have learned many things already that will help me with my T60 when it arrives...hopefully SOON! Good Luck, Cory

My new T60 has just arrived!!!! WHOOOOA.!!!

First impressions: Seemed lighter than my late T42, but sturdier!!!
The out of the box experience was supberb! Windows, Client security and Thinkvantage all loaded and running at a clasp of my fingers.
The keyboard is super solid!!! no flex, you feel there is a metallic base under the keys.

And the new design issue: well my friends I am architect, and really was very worried with all the fuss about the design changes, but let me say that none of them are as horrible as some had pictured. Certainly the lack of the color stripes and the rounded touch pad keys make the machine look a little "spartan" (can`t get a more english precise word for the idea... you will catch it)) but... I am very happy with this severe look, no problem with the rounded gray volume and power buttons... think this matter has been exagerated by the most conservative Thinkpad fans, the good news is that the machine feels well built and durable.

As to the perfomance, speedy, bright display, zero dead or stuck pixels, what more can I desire? I am fully satisfied... hope you will find the same atributes in your lappys, have a nice weekend.

That's GREAT news! Glad you like it. When again did you order it? Did you get the 14" screen and if so, how do you like it? Keep us posted and I'm so happy for you.

Yup! Cory, at last! Thanks for you being aware of my case. I am sure Lenovo will not let you down, the problem with those guys is that they want to satisfy you but don`t handle a well tuned up Information system ,so they cast contradictory signals which in the final end make you feel a little cheated... and unsecure of the deal you have made.

My order was placed on September 12th/06. I must say that in the first conversation the sales rep told me about 1 1/2 month to delivery because the machine I ordered wasn`t in stock and should be manufactured. In fact it arrived from Singapore with this date of Manufacture: Oct 12/06 !!!

The problem was that in the meantime they told me constantly about problems with my order, bank not registered my deposit, error in the order to production, the guy who should order the shipment left his post... never could know my client number, my order number, less how to track it... I was completely blind until last Wednesday when that Chief assured me He will manage to deliver my order no later than next tuesday, and surely He did it!

Well the screen is awesome (14.1" 1400x1050 res), cold white, zero dead or stuck pixels, enough brightness... See I was a little worried about this department and about the minor design changes from the T43 series to the T60s. The majority of reviewers (not all I must admit) and people in forums criticized bitterly the poor quality of screen and remarked the horrible gray buttons and lack of luster of the touch pad, none of this (being certain) has so much value for me in a general evaluation of the machine, it feels so solid, the keyboard has no flex, the performance is fault proof, quiet and cold, neither high temperatures from the vents... well I am tuning up the machine as to my needs. I suggest to use font smoothing with some clear type option and voila that is it!!!

Hope you and all who are in the waiting line be as delighted as I am. Must point out that this is not my first notebook neither my first Thinkpad.

I just ordered a T60 yesterday. 2007-7JU (2.16ghz T7400, 1 gig ram, 120gig 5400rpm HD, CD-RW/DVD-ROM, X1400, flexview 15" monitor, 9 cell battery. I'm hoping since this is a pre-configured model I won't get shipping delays (though, the sales rep said he checked that it is in-stock and it will be 8-10 days, and the e-mail says 11/13. Neither of which is too bad, but I'm hoping the sales rep was right).
I kinda wanted the 7200rpm drive, but I figure 5400 SATA150 should be about as fast as 7200 ATA100, plus I can always upgrade that later.

Good luck with your order...my rep also "checked stock" on 10/25 and told me no more than 8-10 days, possibly sooner, but when I received the offical email notice I was looking at 11/20! I have since emailed him and he said it looks like an 11/10 ship date at the latest, but he will be able to tell better in a couple days...must be waiting for those IntelPro cards!

I always imagined that if anybody would be fast it would be Thinkpad (I was about to say IBM but remembered it's Lenovo, I was about to say Lenovo but then remembered that name means nothing to me in terms of reputation). Or is it the sort of thing where if I were supplying my business they would be fast?

W000000000T, IT SHIPPED TODAY! I guess ordering a pre-configured model from the Large Enterprise department's list helps speed things along.

WHOA! Mine shipped today! :D I just begged my rep yesterday about the wireless card and told him to slap either one in to get the thing shipped! He said that BOTH cards are the same (although we have heard differently from owners of both) and it should not delay the 11/10 ship date he quoted me...I wake up this morning and there it is, my notice of shipment, the day after I spoke to the rep. Really makes me wonder how much they know?? It will be a looooooooooooong weekend as I wait for a Tuesday-Thursday delivery, I am guessing since it wasn't in the UPS system yet, other than notice. BTW, it says "Express Delivery" and I do not see that as an option in UPS system, what does that mean?

Funny, my rep mentioned he had begged the supply team. I had e-mailed im and told him that I absolutely need it for a trip on the 22nd and that it would be nice to have it before a trip I have on the 19th (both true), and so I was wondering if the 8-10 days was more accurate or the 11/13. He said he will talk to the supply team, the next day it shipped and said I guess begging the supply team actually works.

It's not express (I'm assuming you got the standard shipping), it's Expedited, which is a UPS service only available internationally. Sicne yours said it shipped on the morning of 11/3, and mine said that on the morning of 11/2, I'm guessing you'll have yours on Thursday the 9th since my tracking says Wednesday the 8th and we are both on the east coast. If I had known it would ship this soon after ordering it I would have shelled out the 72 bucks for next day (in fact, I'm still kicking myself for not having done that).

Did you pay for 2nd day or standard? I am really kicking myself for not paying for next day. Yours must have shipped before today though because tracking isn't supposed to be possible until the day after it ships. Also, mine too gives the date as a rescheduled delivery...so...I wonder when the regularly scheduled delivery is

And I'm confused, you had to sign a non-disclosure agreement?

Your guys are lucky! I still have not heard anything about my T60 which was ordered 10/24. I will check with our lab manager who placed the order and was on vacation this week. Hope the shipment notice has already been in her email box, so I can have my new toy next week.

However, I would not be suprised if it is delayed, since my T60 was ordered through my university, which can possiblly prolong the process. Keep my finger crossed.

Mine does say shipped on 11/2 with a resheduled date of delivery as 11/6. I took the standard delivery because most people seem to get them fast...possibly because the are from overseas and UPS would use Air anyway. In UPS's website when I hit to track my shipment does say EXPRESS...what does yours say? I did not sign any non-disclosure agreement that I know of! :?

On the non-disclosure agreement you said NDA isn't so bad after all...what is NDA if not Non-Disclosure Agreement?

Sorry deodeo, didn't mean to jump over your post...I didn't see it. I think it definietely helps to call the Lenovo rep and make some "noise", in a polite way, of course. I told him I never had a notebook before and needed it badly for my graduate courses, which already started (true story btw). He did some checking into it on more than one occasion and kept me advised by email. For some reason they sent mine "Express" and I am to get it on Monday, so we shall see. I just asked our manager, and she had heard nothing from the university. I did not push her since I know those people at university are hard to deal with. That is all the hassle to order through institution.

I will keep watching. Thanks corymcnutt!

I am glad for you Cory... would be nice if your machine were delivered by weekend... with election day on Tuesday it's gona be delightful to work on its setup these days, no doubt your Christmas came a little early this year... enjoy!. And again I must point out that the real beauty of Thinkpad resides in the knowledge of its quality... "that feeling of confidence instead of that sinking feeling"as the last year's advertisign campaign said. Don't let be fooled by the abscence of the red and blue stripes...
