Have you ordered a T6x(p)?Shipping Posts.
I probably could answer the waranty question becuz I had the similar problem: I ordered a 2-yr plan but online status shows only 1-yr limited warranty. I called lenovo and was told the additional year of service will kick in at the end of the first yr of manufacturer warranty, which is displayed online right now. It seems like we dont have to worry about it at this time. I think it's safer to have the invoice as proof.mtomd wrote:Hey guys. I got my T60 last night! I ordered it on 11/18, it said it was estimated to ship on 12/22, but it shipped on 12/6 and I got it on 12/7. I haven't really had a chance to play with it yet (only about an hour) because it is the end of the semester so everything is all hectic. But from the little bit of "playing" I did, it looks awesome.
I do have a question though, I ordered a 3 year warentee with the machine, but when I check the warentee on the website, it only says 1 year limited warentee. Do I need to register it somewhere? If so, where?

Received T60
I just received my T60 on 12/07. It was shipped on 12/05; I have no idea how it gets here from China in 2 days, especially during the Christmas season.
Everything seems great. It runs a lot cooler than my older Dell latitude. The fan isn't as quiet as I would like, I guess thats the tradeoff.
Nothing in the packaging indicated anything about the free upgrade to Vista, although my harware should be more than enough. I e-mailed my rep, but have not heard back yet. I guess my concern is that the sticker says Designed for XP, instead of Vista Capable. Has anyone else encountered this?

Excellent. Thanks for for information. I was going to call and ask Lenovo today if no one had responded.SlimBear wrote: I probably could answer the waranty question becuz I had the similar problem: I ordered a 2-yr plan but online status shows only 1-yr limited warranty. Thought that I would make my first post here this evening.
I just pulled the trigger tonight on a T60P, 2.0GHz, 4MB L2, 15.0 Flexview, DVD burner with 2GB ram and 100GB 7200 HDD.
My first portable was the Compaq suitcase that looked like a sewing machine, no hard drive, but two 5-1/4" floppies with a 7" monochrome monitor and 256k of ram. It did however have a full size keyboard in the lid that closed the case.
I am sure there are those here who remember these machines.
Anyway, I am glad I found this forum. I hopefully can participate and add value after I have had the T60P for awhile.
In the meantime I will probalby be lurking and absorbing all I can.
BTW, to follow the thread context, the ship date quoted was 12/22/2006.

Hi guys, I just got a confirmation email that my FIRST ThinkPad, has been shipped, i have been living a HP, Dell, Toshiba life so far but honestly i couldn't take the crappy quality anymore, so i decided to go with a 14" T60. i ordered my T60 on 12/04 and got an email that it was shipped on 12/09. I'm a computer scinece student in canada, and we dont have much option in lenovo site here. but since i was going over to my aunt's this xmas in California, i thought its the prefect opportunity. so i ordered my T60 and only after that i came across this thread which scared me SH*TLESS! but to be honest i never even thought of going back to HP or Dell, and i said to my self, worst case my aunt will have to ship it for me in jan or feb! and it will still be worth it! but now! i am so excited! i'm sorry if i drifted off topic but its all joy and i have to let it somehow!

Just received my T60p, to replace the 'ol faithful T41p which has served me well for 3 years now. Machinie is a 14.1" T60p with all the usual stuff and it looks like I even got an nmb keyboard, it seems very nice to type on.
Initially the little build things that differed from the T41 annoyed me as others have said (volume/thinkvantage buttons, trackpoint buttons etc...) but after 1 days use the new ones are fine and the old T41 is long forgotten, I love the new beast, it absolutely flies.....
Just thought I'd share my excitement
Cheers
Ben

I just ordered a very similar model myself on 12/6 or 12/7 (processing error that was corrected). The only differences are the memory (2 GB), hard drive (120 GB), and the backpack (already had one). My estimated ship date sadly is 1/8/2006, so I wasn't quite so lucky. When I call Lenovo to see what's up, they blame a 4-week backorder of 1GB memory modules. I'm really hoping that they are wrong, but I would be extremely surprised if it even shipped before the New Year. Anyway, this will be my first Thinkpad and I look forward to figuring out all the little things they offer.kay.one wrote:Here is my order information:

What do I do?
Ordered computer. Waited a month. Computer ships later than promised. Wrong computer configuration ships. Call Lenovo.
Options are: Suck it. Send it back. Configure another computer. Wait a month or more.
or
Go buy another computer.

That's a tough call, what was the system you expected versus the one that you received? What specifically is different and is it for the better or worse? More details might help the decision.

Wait, so did you end up with a 14" display on the one your ordered? I only ask because the model I ordered is the 14" model and it has the exact same model number as yours. Is that the model number it gave you on the order?

Sorry to be confusing, I was referring to your signature...
Since the model number and the screen size conflict with each other. Did you look at the original invoice, what screen did it say and what model number? Was it a problem with the original order or just with what got shipped to you?T60 2613HKU 2GHz, 15" Flexview, 1.5 GB RAM, X1400, 100 GB 7200rpm HD

So the backstory is that I ordered a 14" configuration... and then requested a change a few days later... That was my mistake. Lenovo said "No problem" when I made the change. It was only later when the ship date changed that I called and they said it is delayed because I changed the order. OK fine.
So they knew the order was supposed to change. But now we have it delayed and wrong...I knew that changing the order was going create a problem...

So I'm just confused. The one on the way is no doubt a good machine. 14", but a good machine. I'm just wondering if I open the box and get on with it or is the 15"Flexview is worth working for?
I read how good the Flexviews were, so I changed the order. But I don't have anything to compare them to as I have never seen the Flexview.

Well, I'm set on getting the 14" due to the size, Flexview isn't really important to me. After you changed the order, did they charge you any more? Was the final amount charged to your card the correct amount?

At least that didn't charge you extra, but I do understand your disappointment. I wish I could tell you more about whether it would be worth it to try and return this one for the Flexview model, but it's really a hard decision given the fact that you can't see either in person. I'm sure I'll be happy with the 14" one, but my big requirement for this laptop is portability and battery life. Both of those things are much better with the 14" non-Flexview model.
I guess in my position I would just keep the machine since the wait for a new order seems to be outrageous and I hear a lot of talk about the IPS screens being discontinued for laptop models. Obviously this isn't confirmed, but they do seem to be in shorter supply. Add to that the fact that Lenovo can't seem to keep 1 GB sticks of memory around and you are in for quite a wait for another T60 with IPS.
Even I have been weighing my other options since the projected wait doesn't seem like something I can tolerate and I have heard that Lenovo has a tendency to just let shipping deadlines pass by. The only real issue is that I got a deal because of how I ordered the computer and I can't seem to match the specs with the price anywhere else.
Basically, you have a tough decision ahead and although the people here may be able to lend some more insight than I can, the final decision is going to be up to you...

Thanks for the thoughts. For me too, the price I have and specs I feel are good when you compare it to other Thinkpads. That is the major reason I agreed to the wait and bought from Lenovo direct. This is telling me to stick to the one on the way. The other things you mentioned about the IPS screen are interesting and I had not heard them.
When I really thought about it and read some other posts, I started selling myself on keeping the thing. I got a 6 cell battery for portability and originally wanted the 14" for the same reason. Maybe it just worked out for the best.
Not to mention the wait...
I do appreciate the discussion.

Hey, it's no problem, I'm going out of my mind waiting for my computer to ship! It's only been about 9 days, but the anticipation is still killing me. I think you will most likely be happy with the 14" model and given the wait you experienced already, it's probably best just to keep it. The Flexview stuff is just what I heard around this and other forums, nothing concrete, but battery life definately suffers as a result. I guess that the Flexview model has many more transistors to make the viewing angle that large, not to mention the larger backlight. Anyway, glad I could lend some insight to your problem, good luck with your new laptop and I hope that you are satisfied with your purchase after all the waiting.
