I ordered my t60 with 2GB ram and they tell me that is what is holding mine up, new estimated shipping date is March 5. Seems odd they have gotten other computers with the same ram that were ordered after mine already shipped. Such is my luck.

I think that's nonsense. I think delays right now are attributable to the Chinese New Year. It sounds better for Lenovo to say "delayed parts" instead of "Holiday shutdown".

My order date was 2/7 and I am supposed to ship by 2/21. They haven't updated my shipping date yet, but I am expecting a delay because of the holiday. Unfortunately, timing is everything and it looks like my order timing was perfect to insure a delay.

Yep, didn't get an email (poor customer service if you ask me) but did review my Order Status and instead of my T60P being shipping 2/19 (ordered 2/5), the new ship date is 3/19. This really, really upsets me because I need a new machine before 3/7. Since I have been seriously looking at the MBP too, if my laptop is not shipped before Friday (2/23), I may be visiting my local Apple Store and picking up a MBP instead.

Update 1: Just called Lenovo and the girl I spoke to said that she sees nothing which would postpone my order for 30 days. She says if it doesn't ship today, it should ship within the next few days. The 30 day change is considered "normal". Hopefully whomever put together my machine didn't party too much....

Update 2: Finally received an email that the shipment is delayed. Says it should be available soon, to call my sales rep if I want to cancel, and should be shipped within 30 days. I'm giving it until Friday then I'll have to reluctantly cancel my order and go in a different direction.

I ran into the same problem with my laptop. After it didn't ship on the 2 month date after I ordered it, I called and cancelled my order and bought a Mac Book Pro because they sent me an email it could take up to another month.

The very next day the Lenovo shipped! Played with the Mac book pro for a bit, did not like it as much as the Lenovo, so I returned the Mac book pro. Plus, I was able to get Lenovo to give me decent compensation for the fact that when I originally ordered the laptop they told me it would definitely ship in 5 to 7 days.

what is it with IBM/Lenovo?

I've ordered 4 machines from them over the years (T41P, T42P, T43, and T60 WS). They've all been stuck in customs.

Once again, I get greeted with this:

Well . . just checked my order status and it now says 3//07/07 instead of 2/21/07. :banghead: Not sure what I am going to do at this point.

My order status still has a ship date 3/19. Checking Lenovo's website, the previous two days had a ship date of 3-4 weeks for custom machines. Today, it's back down to 1-2 weeks - which is what it was when I ordered 2/5. Ordering a new machine today will show up before the other one I ordered 2 1/2 weeks ago? What gives?

I'm going to call again today and "politely" voice my concerns. When I placed my order, I specifically said I need this laptop in 1-2 weeks and the sales rep said no problem. He told me it should be shipped even sooner - yeah right ! If I would have known it was going to be delayed this long, I would have purchased a pre-configured one instead of a custom one. I understand that things happen (New Year's, etc.) but this is ridiculous. If you promise something is going to be shipped on a certain date, it should be shipped on that date. Poor customer service!

For all of those who are having extremely late laptops, you really should start talking to customer service and making a complaint. Ask them to give you a better estimate -- the computer generated one seems to be a guess. The customer service person can talk to the factory and find out when they think your laptop will be built.

Now, this is not to say that they can't be wrong. I was given four or five different ship dates (each one missed) before it finally did ship. But, each time I called back and complained. After it was all said and done, they gave me a decent discount on the system and a free carrying case. Now, I am sure you feel like I did, in that I would have rather had my laptop sooner then waiting two months, but the compensation did help, in that at least I didn't wait for nothing.

I guess I am fortunate; I ordered on 2/19 a 8744J2U (T60p, 15.4, 2gb, 100gb 7200, Windows Vista Business) and it has shipped today 2/21. This was a pre configured unit, no cto.

Hey everyone, new member here ;)

I ordered a T60 WS pretty much loaded. After finding out so much information from everybody here as well as NBR I concluded that I got the luck of the draw with the best parts, with the NMB Keyboard, the LG Screen, and the Seagate HDD and of course the Atheros card (I think... it's the Lenovo branded a/b/g ?). I ordered mine on 2/10 to celebrate my b-day, and it shipped out the 22nd. It has already made its way from CHEK LAP KOK, HK to Anchorage, AK to Ontario, CA, US in less than two days. I am very excited and happy, hoping it will be here by Tues-Wed. Will definately post a review on NBR when I get it! ;)

EDIT: I am beginning to believe that Lenovo is using more of the LG Phillips panels as I have been reading and seeing less and less posts of people getting Samsungs. Which is good ;)... although the NMB > ALPS > Chicony issue still remains~

I ordered mine on 2/6 as I posted before and it shipped on 2/22, about a week before the 3/2 est. ship date. Delivery date is 2/26, although I tried to pick it up today as it was in Phoenix this morning, but UPS said that they had already packed it onto a truck for Monday delivery and that I'd have to wait. Overall, a positive first experience with Lenovo :).

What I have done about the shipping issues.

#892 Post by bastafidli » Mon Feb 26, 2007 5:48 pm

I ordered mine on 2/8 and the original shipped date was 2/21. That date is changed to 3/8 with no explanation. By this time I was already [censored] of with Lenovo because the sales rep who helped me to configure the desktop was not responding to my emails which other sales rep suggested to send her.
I cancelled the order, search the tabook for the models with the components I was interested in (x1400, 14.1" SXGA+, C2D 2GHz). I have found 4 models. I searched using pricegrabber, mysimon and froogle and found which reseller has it in the price range I wanted. Once I ordered it from reseller, it shipped the very same day for delivery in a few. I got out of this for only $90 more better warranty, better HDD, better batery, more memory and better OS than the one I configured during the Valentine's day sale.

I too ordered a T60 on 2/6/2007. Original estimated ship date was 2/14/2007 which my sales rep assured me it would ship before that. The date slipped to 2/28/2007. I've called CSR's at Lenovo to inquire about the ship date. I was frustrated a little by the CSR's not informing me about the Chinese New Year. Although it would have been nice to know it would cause delays that isn't the real problem here. Maybe its my fault and I should have spent a little more time with wikipedia and known that the chinese new year was coming...

I've been getting the same canned response as others on this forum have received: "I don't see any reason that it is being held up. It should ship in the next few days if not today".

I'm about to follow in bastafidli's footsteps, cancel my thinkpad and order from somewhere else. I'll update this post if I get further information.

UPDATE 2/28/2007: Est. Shipping Date changed to 3/14/2007. I'll be calling them today.
UPDATE 2/28/2007: called CSR at 12:30pm to get an update and he offered to get more accurate shipping information from the shipping managers and call me back.
UPDATE 3/3/2007: Lenovo lists order as shipped. Rescheduled Delivery is 3/8/2007. That will total one month and two days from the day I placed my order.

Finally...

Checked my status this morning and it says it has been shipped. Yeah!

The latest delay was with 14.1" SXGA+ screens. This was after another delay in LCDs and a delay in T7600 processors.

Looks like there is still hope for it to come by 3/6 - have a big trip I need to go on 3/7.

After ordering from Lenovo, I found a much better deal at CostCentral ($200 cheaper, better warranty, DVD writer, more RAM), so I cancelled with Lenovo yesterday. Today, they shipped anyway - just 5 days after placing the order. Just my luck!

Anyway, a Lenovo sales rep told me I could send it back with a complete refund after it arrives - they'll even pay for shipping. Very nice.

Hopefully, CostCentral will ship soon....

I also got a 3 year warranty. I love IBM/Lenovo laptops. Great build quality, and very clean :) Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones and get it soon.

CostCentral has shipped my T60 WS and they actually show a serial number on my invoice. According to the Lenovo site, this unit has the LG display and an Alps keyboard. Delivery due Monday.
