#901 Post by A2 Thinkpad » Sun Mar 04, 2007 9:36 am

Well, after agonizing over my decision and serious consideration of canceling and heading back to Dell or over to Apple, I checked my order status yesterday and found the my T60p has shipped.

Ordered a T60 (8744-5BU) tonight (3/4). Order status says that the current estimated shipdate is 3/15. Added the extra gig of RAM for $99, so who knows when it will actually ship. I'd be fine with 3/15, since I'm going to be out of town all that week, and I wouldn't want it coming too soon.

Yes, they do. I ordered this exact system after I confirmed that it was in stock, and it basically shipped the next day.

I've skimmed through this thread and haven't seen it, but for the online order status, what are the various stages? Mine is "in progress," which is the same as when I ordered it last night; does that mean billing information is being confirmed? Or will there not be a change until my system in ready to ship?

So impatient...

I ordered mine Saturday and I'm still at the in process stage. I'm impatient too. Here is a link of the different stages.

Cool down, mate... Let\'s hope your thinkpad can arrive early and don\'t get stuck halfway in customs.

Is that your 1st thinkpad? :?

So, yeah, I couldn't sit there and watch it say "in process" over and over and over, and I called Lenovo today and they said it looks like it will indeed ship by the end of next week. Can't wait!

Hi All,

I just ordered my new Thinkpad T60 to replace my old T42p (Est. Ship Date: 03/23/07  !!):
  • 2613HKU LENOVO THINKPAD T60 2613 - CORE 2 DUO T7200 2 GHZ - 14.1" TFT
40Y6800 CTO TP 6 CELL BATTERY 2.4 AH
    40Y7737 LENOVO THINKPAD MEMORY - 512 MB - SO DIMM 200-PIN - DDR II
41A4070 CTO TP WIFI WIRELESS ABG
    41N8353 LENOVO THINKPAD HARD DRIVE - 80 GB - SATA-150
41N8358 CTO 8X MAX DUAL LAYER DVD RECORDABLE ULTRABAY SLIM DRIVE
40Y8725 LENOVO THINKPAD SERIAL ATA HARD DRIVE BAY ADAPTER - STORAGE BAY ADAPTER
NOTE: I plan to do the following upgrades:
  • 1. Upgrade memory from 512mb to 2.0gb (dual-channel). Fry's had a sale on 1gb CORSAIR SODIMM for $70 each. I got two sticks.
    2. Test 80gb 7k100 and if noise/vibration is not a problem, will swap hard drives.
    3. Plan to install Mac OS X 10.4.8, dual-boot.
Question 1: Any problems with noisy fans on RECENT Core 2 Duo systems with X1400 GPUs?

Question 2: How's the quality (brightness/contrast/dead_pixels) of the RECENT 14.1" TFT SXGA+ screens, i.e. 1400x1050 pixels?

Order Date - 3/6/07
Current Ship Date - 3/23/07

I have had my 15.4" T60 WS for less than 2 weeks, it is a T7200 with the 128MB X1400. The fan on mine isn't noisy...you can barely hear it whirring away. I mean, obviously if you put a full load on the CPU/GPU of course the fan will start blasting away like crazy, but even then it isn't loud, and I myself am very sensitive to noise.

One suggestion I would make would be to make sure to check on Lenovo's update site and download System Update 3, because for mine most of the ThinkVantage software was very old (I had RnR3 and SU2 =[ ).

Intention to obtain T60p, 15.0" UXGA

#916 Post by Sam » Thu Mar 08, 2007 10:41 am

I'm working to obtain a T60p, 15.0" UXGA. Problem is, the used ones sell very fast, and yesterday when I called IBM, they told me that they aren't making the 15.0" display with UXGA anymore - only SVGA. If I want UXGA, I'll have to order a 15.4" WUXGA, which I don't really want.

Anybody know how I can order / obtain a T60p, 15.0" UXGA?

Thanks in advance,

Sam
Thanks,

Sam

I ordered exactly the same one (8744J2U) on the same date (2/28) from also possibly the same place (lenovo EPP).
Mine shows still 'in progress' with no change in the estimated ship date (3/14). Guess it's just my luck.

You can order it after the system is delivered. I added that and the onsite service after delivery on my T60p.

Here are the instructions;

How do I upgrade my system's warranty?
Within the United States, call 1-866-968-4465 and a trained service representative will assist you with your upgrade.

Hours of operation (US only):
Monday - Friday: 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM EST
Saturday & Sunday: Closed
Note: All times are for the Eastern Time Zone.

T60p 8741C3U Widescreen - No fan noise

#922 Post by cwemely » Mon Mar 12, 2007 11:39 am

I received my T60p just over a week ago and have had no issues with fan noise or any noise for that matter. Even the 100GB 7.2K drive is quiet.

I upgraded from a 14.1" T42 so this unit is a little heftier, but I like the widescreen and it works well with two out-board Dell 20" wide displays.

No, I didn't add anything else. Anyway, did you receive an email when your status changed to 'shipped'? I am just getting tired of checking the status page everyday.

The online status has consistently showed that mine is supposed to ship tomorrow, and I called today to see if a phone rep had any additional information. He said it's set to go out tomorrow or Friday, so here's to hoping I'll have it early next week. Can't wait! I just hope they don't announce the T61s too soon after I get mine.

I assume you placed your order earlier in that day than I did. (I placed mine at 9pm EST) Other than that, I couldn't find any reason why my order is processed more than a week slower than yours. Today, I received the following email.
