I'm SO glad mine didn't get held up in customs. BTW, "ups-express" is a 2-3 day service from Hong Kong/China, so you'll likely see your notebook the day after customs releases it.
Gary - thanks for the encouragement. As of about an hour ago, my shipment is now noted as having been "warehoused" until released by customs. Hopefully, that will happen tomorrow, and I'll have my new Thinkpad as soon as Tuesday.

Back in transit . . .

#992 Post by warp-drive » Sun Apr 22, 2007 3:45 pm

Thankfully, my T60p has now had an "Import Scan", which hopefully means it has cleared customs, and is officially "In Transit"! It's possible it will make it to me by tomorrow, which was what UPS was predicting yesterday.

Still in limbo...

Well, I was encouraged yesterday, but as of this morning, nothing new has happened. . . the latest notation is "Import Scan". I guess I misinterpreted the message and the laptop is still in the hands of Customs. Hopefully it will be released today. Madcow, I have my fingers crossed that yours will move through without delay.

I'm always like a little kid with new gadget
but i hate it when it takes forever to get it, like this thinkpad

anywho, i wake up everyday and fist thing i do is check my status, but when i see "in process" it "grinds my gears"

Spoke to Lenovo rep today re 15.5" WS T60p

#997 Post by larsv » Mon Apr 23, 2007 10:10 pm

My order has a listed ship date of 5/10, but the rep said that date was overly conservative, he had a ship date of 5/4 for my order.

He also confirmed that it it was the WSXGA+ screen that delayed the shipment. My order also has an N wireless card, but there was no mentioning of that delaying the order.

I placed my order online on 4/14.

Just check my long waiting CTO T60P. It's really ridiculous.
Now the shipping date has been pushed back AGAIN till May 18. Two months from my order date (3/19).

I will cancel the order tomorrow morning, and a complaint to BBB is on the way. When I made the order, the waiting time is around 1-2 "weeks", not "months".
jscw wrote:My 2nd order has become ridiculous.
T60P, T7200, 1GB RAM, 80GB.
Order Date: 3/19
Original Ship Date: 4/5
New Ship Date: 4/24 !!!

They just silently changed the ship date. Now I need to wait over ONE MONTH, that's really ridiculous. T60P might be good, but probably not that good for waiting over one month.
Lenovo got to have a very good explanation, otherwise canceling the order is the 1st thing I want to do tomorrow.

- Ordered 3/27 in the afternoon.
- Their system didn't let me enter my real zip so billing was fubared.
- Confirmed billing first thing on 3/28 and order was released.

So I'm counting about 7 business days.. Hopefully yours will ship on the 10th if it follows the same time line.

I think my package might lost at my local UPS hub. I've called UPS numerous times and they suspect the same. They've told me to contact Lenovo and I was wondering what I should ask for in this situation?

Here's a copy of my tracking information (note, it's been out for delivery since Thursday and there's been no actual delivery):

It's Here!!!!!!!!

#1001 Post by warp-drive » Wed Apr 25, 2007 8:07 am

My T60p (2613CTO) arrived yesterday (4/24). When I went to bed on the 23rd, UPS tracking status showed it warehoused for customs release. I had resigned myself to another day of delay. However, when I checked the status yesterday morning, it was on the truck for delivery! Amazing how much difference a night can make! Anyway, for those of you still waiting or considering a purchase, here's the summary of my experience:

1. Ordered on 4/16 (late evening)
2. Ship date on order confirmation was estimated to be 4/30
3. Shipped on 4/20 from Hong Kong
4. Tracking data appeared on morning of 4/21, "In Transit - Shipped UPS Express - Delivery Scheduled for 4/23"
5. Tracking data updated on afternoon of 4/21, "HELD BY BROKERAGE FOR REASONS BEYOND UPS' CONTROL". No delivery estimate provided.
6. Tracking data updated on morning of 4/22, "THIS SHIPMENT IS WAREHOUSED UNTIL IT IS RELEASED BY CLEARING AGENCY". No delivery estimate provided.
7. Another tracking entry was made later in the morning on 4/22, stating "IMPORT SCAN". I misinterpreted this to mean that the package had been released for further shipment to its final destination. No delivery estimate provided.
8. Tracking data updated on afternoon of 4/23, "A SPECIAL CUSTOMS DELAY IS REQUIRED FOR THIS LIVE ENTRY". No delivery estimate provided.
9. Another "IMPORT SCAN" was entered late evening on 4/23.
10. In the wee morning hours today (4/24), the logjam broke. In a period of less than two hours, the package was released, shipped from Louisville to Birmingham and was on a truck for delivery.
11. Delivery was made shortly after 10am.

Summary - Despite the fact that shipment was predicted 10 business days after placement of the order, and with customs delays, the custom configured PC was delivered in virtually 1 week. I can't complain!

My order was on the 9th.

It has been almost a month now. That's just too long a wait. Never have to wait this long for any order before.

This is driving me insane....

I ordered on 3/23
At that time said would ship on 4/11
Didn't ship by 4/11- got pushed to 4/19
Didn't ship by 4/19 so i called and now I'm pushed to 4/30 (although should ship early this week)
Still have not shipped early this week

Any ideas that get me my laptop sometime before may at this point? I feel terrible because this is a graduation present for my sister and it happens two weeks from now and I'd really like to have a t60 for her and the price i got was just phenomenal.

I ordered the T60 listed in my signature via an IBM lease on 4/13, and just found out today that, apparently because of the lease, the laptop order didn't actually go to Lenovo until 4/20.

Expected delivery date is 5/24

And the lease apparently restricts Lenovo from shipping to anywhere other than our corporate office, even though I live on the other side of the country . . . so I've got to wait for it to be shipped from CA to ME.

Let's just hope these 15.4" screens we've all been waiting for are at least LG and not the dreaded Samsung.... :S

Don't let all the hype about the samsung screens scare you... You might get a samsung screen and be happy with it... I am.

Perhaps there was just a bad batch in the past - or Samsung improved their quality control over time.

... but this is a discussion for another thread...

Finally, I received mine today. Love it. Wish the screen could be brighter. I have the TMD screen. Ordered on the 9th of this month, and got it on the 26th. It was a long wait, but worth it.

Hi, guys!

I ordered a older model of T60 from Lenovo outlet yesterday, but the status still shows "in process". Is there anything wrong? and there is no sales rep calling me so far!

So what is the normal process for ordering from the website? Did you just order and wait and check the status? or you'd need to call the sales number?

Is this model worth $1015 (tax included)? Thank you so much for your input!

According to my experience, you'll get a call from lenovo when the order is ready to ship. In the meantime check your status online periodically.

Also please refrain from double posting.

I've recently had an item shipped out and it's stuck at this stage in UPS:

LOUISVILLE,
KY, US 04/28/2007 2:08 P.M. UPS IS PROCESSING SHIPMENT FOR FUTURE SUBMISSION TO THE FOOD/DRUG ADMIN AND/OR DEPT OF AG PPQ

Any idea what that means?

Also, I got a serial number to go w/ my laptop, but when I do a parts lookup, I get the following error: "Information for parts lookup was not found."

Ordered a T60 this Friday, and now I've just discovered this forum. This is my first Thinkpad purchase. Any comments?

Code: Select all

1 63716NU TP T60 1.83G 1GB 120GB WXP
1 40Y7734 1GB PC2-5300 CL5 DDR2 SODIMM
  • Core 2 Duo T5600 (1.83Ghz)
    15.4" WXGA TFT (1280x800 WS)
    120GB 5400RPM
    9-cell battery
    Intel 950
Thinkpad wireless (this is Atheros, I assume?)
    Windows XP Professional
I chose the T60 (and more specifically T5600) because I intend to use Intel VT (virtualization) technology to run Xen to run hardware-assisted virtual machines. Thus the 2GB RAM. From what limited information I could find, this is one of the very few Thinkpads that has the option for Intel VT actually available in the BIOS.

One thing I didn't take into account was the 15.4" screen. I've read all about the Flexview screen, and now that I know what I'm missing I hope I won't be disappointed with the normal TFT screen. From the Canadian Lenovo website I don't believe I had the option of Flexview screens. I also didn't really think about the resolution on such a large screen.

Anyways, they said 3-4 weeks in the email, possibly because I ordered the extra memory module. My fingers are crossed and I hope I'll enjoy my nice durable, linux friendly thinkpad, much unlike my previous throwaway Presario (13 mo!) which is now a brick.

Which website are you using to look the parts lookup? Lenovo or IBM? You should be able to look at both nevertheless.

As noted above, lease application approved 4/13, laptop ordered 4/20, received shipping notification today:

4/30 9:17AM ONTARIO, CA, US:

THE SHIPMENT IS BEING HELD BY BROKERAGE FOR REASONS BEYOND UPS' CONTROL;BROKERAGE RELEASED SHIPMENT. SHIPMENT IS SUBMITTED TO CLEARING AGENCY FOR FURTHER CLEARANCE

Regardless, it should be at the corporate office by the end of the week, which means I'll have it in my grubby paws next week while I'm working from my home office. Yessir. :D
