i got an ibm thinkpad a22m it has the mobel p3 1 ghz chip. i use this laptop to play a online game and when i am playing it run at 70 C its even when as high as 78 C is that too hot for that chip what is the hottest one of them should run at. the fan is running and i have tryed redoing the paste on the chip did really make any diffenace at all.
Ideally, you shouldn't get above 60 C.
However, as long as you're below 90 C, it's not TOO dangerous.
My old X21 could EASILY get above 90 C, however, unless I manually set it to 500MHz instead of 700.

If the fan is going out, you'll have that problem. Obviously, you've had the unit out, so you know how to get the part number if that's the problem.
Alternately, if it's clogged, that will happen too. Make sure it's not clogged.
