What do you think...

For a while I was looking at a T41 with the following specs:

T41
PM - 1.4 MHz
512 RAM
30 GB (4200 rpm)
CDRW/DVD Combo
802.11b wireless
Free Shipping
3 year carry-in service plan
$1550 US

but now a new deal came about on a T40 with the following specs:

T40
PM 1.5 MHz
512 RAM
40 GB (5400 rpm)
CDRW/DVD Combo
Free extra battery and ac adapter
3 Year Protection Plan
and i would upgrade with an Intel 2200BG wireless card
$1492 US

I realize the T40 has much better specs than the T41 but is there anything the T41 can offer (other than HD protection) that the T40 can't.

Am I choosing the right wireless card to upgrade the T40 with?

Is the T40 a good deal...or am i getting ripped off?

Thanks.

I'd say just get the T40 and be careful :) The only other difference should be PC2100 vs. PC2700 memory, and it's such an unnoticeable difference I wouldn't worry about it.

I have that T41 (roughly). The 30Gb hard drive is too small and too slow, so I put in a 60Gb 7200-rpm drive. The T40 you showed has a decent hard drive.

Further, the wireless that comes in that T41 is (so far as I know) the Intel 2100 series and it is junk. I have an IBM a/b/g wireless replacement on order.

So the T40 looks to be the better deal, although having made the upgrades to my T41, I really like it. ... JDHurst
