Screen Flaw? (tiny darkish area, lower right corner)
Screen Flaw? (tiny darkish area, lower right corner)
My machine: T43p 2687D5U -- 15" FlexView
As with any new purchase, I have been going over my laptop with a fine tooth comb for any defects.
The only thing I can find worrisome is a tiny area in the very lower right corner (flush with the frame holding the screen) which is a tad darker than the rest of the landscape. The area is about 1/2 cm. square.
Does anyone else have such a dark area on their screen? Is this dark area inherent in the manufacture process?
It isn't really that bothersome, but after shelling out all the $$$'s for this baby, I'm wondering if it is a common occurrence with other 15" FlexView owners.
Thanks,
CupOfJoe

Yes and yes.CupOfJoe wrote:Does anyone else have such a dark area on their screen? Is this dark area inherent in the manufacture process?
I wouldn't call it "common". More like "always present".CupOfJoe wrote:It isn't really that bothersome, but after shelling out all the $$$'s for this baby, I'm wondering if it is a common occurrence with other 15" FlexView owners.

If I understand you correctly, you are saying it would probably be fruitless to try and get this repaired (even though it would be under warranty), as all T43p machines with 15" FlexView will exhibit this same flaw? (Excuse my obtuse-ness here, just trying to get a feel for what I'm dealing with in this "flaw"...

Hello again CupOfJoe
I have the same issue on my 14" T43. It is not too noticable but it is definitely a little darker in the lower right part of the screen. I also have a dead pixel near the top. If I don't obsess over it then I don't even notice it ever. It is so hard not to keep obsessing over it tho haha. I know if I really wanted to I could probably get IBM to replace it, but I am not going to do that unless something else goes wrong. Here is to keeping my fingers crossed to be problem free!

Re: Screen Flaw? (tiny darkish area, lower right corner)
I have several Ts, from 40 to 43, 14 & 15", this normally not happens on 14", but for 15" right hand bottom, yes, some machine have large area of shade, and I rejected it from IBM. My recent experience is that I have to reject 3 T43 15" machine in order to find a acceptable one, with a smaller shade!CupOfJoe wrote:dr_st wrote: Yes and yes.

If the shading is really bad (dim) then I would return it to IBM for replacement. This is more noticible when you are running on battery, on AC , the screen is much brighter so dimming of the lower corners are not as noticible. You do have time to think about it until the warranty expires.
