I just got my T42 back from IBM after a new LCD screen was put in to replace the original that had developed some odd bluish spots. I'm happy to say that the screen looks great but for some reason my Touchpad no longer functions (I know many of you would not see that as an issue but I happen to like it).
I looked in the BIOS settings and noticed that I only have the TrackPoint option listed, not the Touchpad option. On my work PC, I have both settings so I'm wondering what happen to it. I plan on making a call to IBM tomorrow but if anybody has any idea what I can do to get the setting back (BIOS update, maybe?) that'd be a big help.
Thanks!

take out the keyboard (dont worry, its a CRU) and make sure the touchpad ribbon cable is securely attacted to its connector.

Touch pad update
Thanks for your response - that's apparently what happened. It baffles me why they would not give the laptop a quick once over before shipping it back - checking the touch pad would have taken them all of 2 secs to confirm that it wasn't working. Now I have to take it apart and hope I don't break something along the way.
I was also amazed to see how dirty the screen was when I got it back. I thought new LCD panels had a peel off protector on them so I suspect this may have been a refurbished panel. Nonetheless I guess I can't complain too much after reading some of the horror stories on the forum of repairs gone amuck.

Hi, Rod1105, did you fix the touchpad problem? I happened to have this problem too. I can not see it in the bios and thinkpad configuration. my laptop is T40 2373-7CU. Is the matter of connector? I am going to take apart it to check! Thanks ahead!
