1680 x 1050....OUCH!

#1 Post by trapper » Wed Mar 08, 2006 8:44 am

I love my z60m, but my eyes are having a hard time w/ the tiny font/icons. I tried to take the resolution down, but you lose the widescreen.
Do you think I will "get used to it" or did I make a mistake??

Trap.

Increase DPI in Desktop -> Properties -> Settings -> Advanced.

Play with icon and menu sizes and spacing in Desktop -> Properties -> Appearance -> Advanced

Adjust browser fonts if necessary.

Don't lower resolution.

Hi Trapper,

If you upgrade your "ThinkPad Video Features" package with the Software Installer, you will be able to set the screen resolution to other wide screen resolutions including 1280x800.

You may also try Fn-space to toggle the screen resolution.

Not to dredge up an old thread, but where is "Thinkpad Video Features" found? I can't seem to find it on my Thinkpad Z61m. I have the same problem with the screen resolution of my notebook; 1680 x 1050 font is just too small for me.

PointZero,

If you run the Software Installer and get the software updates, you will see the "ThinkPad Video Features" package.

BTW, the Software Installer is being replaced with System Update2.

Hey, if you like low res screens, suit yourself, but if they released an X60 with a UXGA (1600x1200) 12", I'd be all over it. Probably my only complaint on the X60s is the XGA screen. I'd like at least SXGA+ (1400x1050).
On a 15.4" Widescreen, though, I love WUXGA (1920x1200). I had a HP with that screen, beautiful.

RUSH2112,

On the way: Thinkpad R60 (For use as a stationary system and backup laptop)

You say that now (for use as:) but wait until you get it. I believe you will find it's such a nice model that you may use for more than just what you've outlined above.....

I know because I ordered one with that same goal, and after just two days (and even though I have all these others) I find myself truly impressed with the R 60 series. By the way the R51 in my signature I bought for my son to use in college but left it in my signature because it's only a matter of time before he gives it back and asks for a T60p as he's studying to be a designer....
