Standby/PXE-E53 PXE-M0F Error problems
Standby/PXE-E53 PXE-M0F Error problems
Okay, here's another stumper. I'm not sure you'll be able to help me or not. Let me describe the problems, follow up with my specs, and then some pertinent information, and let you guys tear at it.
THE PROBLEM:
Whenever I use the standby mode on my ThinkPad (yes, another standby problem), the computer won't boot up correctly the next time (and sometimes SEVERAL times in succession). I'll receive an error that says "PXE-E53 No boot filename received" and "PXE-M0F Exiting Intel Boot Agent--Operating System Not Found." I've also gotten the blue screen of death on occasion giving me a Kernel problem which gives me the memory dump and automatically reboots (I've never been able to see it long enough to get down more information than that). The PXE problems happen ONLY after trying to go into standby mode. And, of course, standby doesn't work, it actually reboots the system, causing those error codes. Ugh.
SPECS:
R51, 1836-Q7U
1gb RAM, Intel 1.7mHz, 80gb HDD
PERTINENT INFO:
1. I recently sent the unit in for a hardware repair (the little button on the screen bezel that suppresses the "standby" button had broken off). Standby HAS worked right after receiving it, but has just recently gone wonky.
2. I rarely use it on battery power alone.
3. The computer will reboot JUST FINE. I can reboot all day long, but it only happens when I try to go into standby mode.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Kenny

Double check your system to make sure that "Boot from network" is not in your boot order at all.
The PXE-E53 error normally refers (after searching this forum and google) a boot from LAN error. It could be that your system, upon waking up, is quickly checking the boot oder, and bypassing the hard drive.
The other thing that I came across was a possible dying CMOS battery, but I would check your BIOS to make sure that it is not set to boot to LAN.
