FULLY CUSTOMIZED CONFIGURATION X60s MODEL 1704-44U

#1 Post by blueeyeblond » Thu Mar 09, 2006 7:18 am

Non of the preconfigured models for X60s laptops I found in tabook.pdf that I liked. So I found this model 1704-44U, and this model allows me to fully configure the laptop to my specifications.

CPU: 1.66 GHz (L2400) (fixed can't be changed)

Fingerprint reader: fixed can't be changed

Security Chip: fixed can't be changed

Memory: 256 Mb all the way up to 2 Gig RAM

Hard drive : 40 GB 5400 rpm all the way up to 100 GB 7200 rpm

Ultrabase: with or without

External optical drive: multiburner, combo drive, or non at all

WI-FI Card: Intel ABG card, or IBM ABG card, or none at all.

Verizon Card: with or without

Bluetooth: with or without

Battery: 4 cell or 8 cell battery

Operating system : XP Home Edition or XP Pro

Warranty: 3 years automatically

When I fully customised the laptop. It comes out to be cheaper than the preconfigured models. The only bad part is that when a model that is fully customized, it will take longer for you to get it. With all the wait, I think it's worth it.

about time, can't wait to have a low voltage dual core, with 2gigs of memory and a small 7200 rpm drive.

but knowing me, i'm going to have my current X40 for another year or two, and then spend 500 dollars on new batteries, and then update.

I went to levano's site picked the 17044DU and then changed the model number in the addressbar. to 170444U I could see the laptop blueeyedblonde was talking about. it seems to be set so you can't add a hard drive, a required field, so you can't really order it but it is a little bit cheaper. I am just not sure it is worth the small cost savings. the only difference I would not want is the verizon evdo. It just seems too expensive espically if you are locked in to a two year agreement...

AFAIK there are NO X60 models that come with the EvDO verizon antenna built in..
in all of them you must use a PCMCIA card..
