Poor external video

#1 Post by Miamithinkpad » Thu Mar 09, 2006 9:29 am

I recently received my new X60 and love it. Its exactly what I hoped it would be except for one big problem. I get poor VGA output on my 19 inch Samsung 930B. I tried playing with the resolution, went through a couple of levels of IBM support, and the best answer I got was your monitor does not work well with this model. BTW, the second level tech thought that there was a DVI jack on the docking station which there is not.

Anyone have any experience with this?

The output on my Dell 1905FP is fine.

I agree that DVI would be nice though.

I output my X60s to a Samsung 19 inch also, with no problem -- resolution looks fine. I know you played with diff resolutions, but curious as to which one(s) you are using...

19 inch Samsung

I may have found a work around, but its a pain. When I first plug it in the Samsung screen mimics the laptop screen resolution if 1024 x 768. which on my Samsung 930B looks like a lousy VGA. I have to go to Display Properties each time and then make my exterior monitor the primary monitor and then increase the screen resolution. This has to be done each time I plug in the laptop.

Did you try the presentation director?

Yep, tried presentation director, and so did the second level of support at IBM without success.
