left mouse button has lost all tactile feel...replacement?

#1 Post by immaculate » Thu Mar 09, 2006 4:10 pm

so the left button on my trackpoint (the heavily used one) has completely lost it's springy-ness and is soft and mushy. is this a user-replaceable part and can i order it? anyone have any leads? i'm wondering if anyone else has done this before?

thanks

thanks! searched and didn't find that thread after going 5 pages deep in the search results. this looks like just what i need. thanks again

EDIT: just another quickie...does anybody know the part number for the cap they are describing in that thread? i use all three mouse buttons and prefer that none of them feel this way... :x

What system do you have?

Here is a general link for the Hardware Maintenance Manuals, it might be in the appropriate pdf file.

EDIT: Just saw your signature, it's an x40. Just check the X40 HMM and see if the part number is listed...might not be since it is a "part of a part". The keyboard assembly is just one part. You might have to order a replacement keyboard...or moreoever, if your system is under warranty, contact them for a replacement.
