Optimize backup storage space
I can't make optimize backup storage space function work. Even though I enter into function and select files I wish to exclude or select for single storage it does not actually affest the next or past backups on my system. The data is backed as if I did not select those files.
Am I doing something wrong?

I am aware that the v3.01 is available from Lenovo web site. I have had it installed for quite some time now. I am not saying that there is not such function like exclude or select for single storage. I am totally aware of it, the problem is that if I select either of those functions they do not affect the way backups are taken. They are not smaller and if I check the file count in optimize backup storage dialog window nothing has been really selected or excluded. All files are backed up as if I didn't select anything.

How exactly are you determining this? Each backup after the base is only a backup of new or changed files. Even if nothing changes the backup is still about 25MB. The exclude just means that if the selected file is changed it will not backup the changes. I believe it will still show in the TOC just not be backed up. SIS just means that it will backup changes everytime but will not have an instance in every backup eating up space, only the most recent backup.

Say for example that I make a backup (incremental) of my system. And I wish to determine if exclude files function works or not. So I copy a movie from network drive to my local drive. Then I go to optimize backup storage window and select that movie as excluded. This means that next time I will back up my system the movie should not be backed up. Right so far? And when I make another backup after all this and check the file count in optimize backup storage window the problem is that the file count for the very movie shows 1. This would mean that movie was backed up in last backup. Correct me if I am wrong. So I concleded that funtion does not work.

I'm not sure I would go by file count. There are a couple of things you could try.
After excluding OR to exclude without using Optimize go to Advanced\Exclude and verify your selections in there. Then create another backup and afterwards open Rescue Files and try to rescue the files you excluded. The results should say "0 Files Restored." For this example you said it was a newly copied file(s) but if you were trying to exclude files that exist in older backup but excluded in the most recent it may rescue the old version. Exclude will only stop further backups of selections and leave any current backups alone.
Another thing to do is create a backup, then add your file(s) and exclude them, and create another backup. Then open Advanced\Delete backups section and check the size of the last backup. It should be between 15-30MB. More than that and your exclude is failing. Be sure to check and see if your selections are in Exclude though.
