Stop selling T4x?

#1 Post by rosshettel » Sun Mar 12, 2006 7:26 am

Does anyone know (or can take a knowledgable guess) as to when Lenovo will stop selling new T4xs on its site? I'm leaning more towards getting a T60, but I'm hoping that maybe the T4xs will go down in price...

Most Likely by summer or towards the end of 2006.

If you are worried about warranty and support issues down the line and have money to burn on the best right now I would get the T60.
However, T4xs have more style, survived the test of time and are more user friendly in FRUs and CRUs.
T40s will probably still have good warranty and support down the line as well but that is still a gamble in todays world of rapidly changing consumer end electronics.

so T60 > T43 if you are a regular consumer that wants security down the line

or T43 > T60 if you want user friendliness and DIY flexibility and lower cost.

historically IBM/Lenovo does not discount older models. Delmarco's guess on availablity of the T4x is as good anyone's guess. You could optionally do a search on historical models and extrapolate the availablilty of those dates get a general idea. That's probably the best anyone can do.

T43s are very recent still and the T60 just came out...
however the older T40/T41 & even T42s are still reliable and good notebooks.

Let your budget decide.

I only had about $800.00 in my pocket so I got the notebook I have.
If I had $3000.00, you can bet I would have gotten a T60 with ALL the trimmings...

Seeing as how this is my laptop for college (so I won't be getting a new one for at least 4 years) and my parents will hopefully be paying most of the bill, I'll get the T60. Hopefully I won't be plaqued with 1st gen issues. And I will miss those cool red and blue buttons (hmm... sharpie...) but I think I'll be satisfied with Dual Cores and drainage holes. Haha. Thank you for your help and the fast reply. Once I get my laptop, I'll be visiting here even more often!

You DO realize drainage holes are on virtually every model including my old T40, right? ;)
