Password Manager.

#1 Post by BoomAM » Sun Mar 12, 2006 2:48 pm

Hi.
Is there a way to disable password manager?
I dont use it at all, and i think its causing me a few problems. As well as taking up processing time/memory.

Thanks in advance all. :)

Doing like it says in that thread will stop me logging into Windows with my fingerprint.

You can use the fingerprint reader software without CSS. Just only have the fingerprint reader software installed.

The finger print software needs CSS according to the tech faqs about it.

Disabling the Password Manager DOES NOT disable CSS. The Password Manager is only a client application that uses CSS. It is used for retrieving stored passwords, not authenticating a fingerprint.

There isnt any obvious way to disable password manager.
There isnt an entry for it in either add/remove, or under startup (either on the start menu or in the registary).

And the password manager is part of CSS, again, according to the tech faqs for it, it is a prerequisit of the fingerprint software.

At least in CSS 6.0 Password Manager does not have it's own Add/Remove icon. Just go to CSS in Add/Remove and one of the options in there is "Modify" which will let you remove the Private Disk and or Password Manager components. CSS, once installed, is integral to the Fingerprint Software, but if you uninstall CSS there is standalone Fingerprint Software you can re-install that the ThinkVantage Software Update will pick up.

From memory, I managed to have fingerprint software without CSS installed.

I don't know if that still holds true, but you can try it.
