PXE issues

We got a loaner T60 and I get to play with it to make sure our Corporate Image will work on it once we start ordering them. However, PXE is just dead it seems.

The PXE server talks to the computer enough to pass it an address, and then a few variables, then it's supposed to push a 1.44 dos boot image and the image takes control. However, it never passes it the boot image, it just hangs. I've tried setting teh SATA settings to compatibility, i've tried quite a few other BIOS settings, with 0 success.

Anyone have any ideas, or similar problems, or, anyone got theres working via PXE, specifically PXE with CA BootServer 4.0?

Check your BIOS version and settings. According to THIS PAGE there are certain reserved memory settings that will disable PXE.

ATI Mobility Radeon X1300/X1400/FireGL V5200 models
C0000-CFFFF : Reserved for Video BIOS
D0000-D1FFF : Reserved for Option ROM of Ethernet (*1)
DC000-DFFFF : Reserved for USB BIOS (*2)
E0000-FFFFF : Reserved for System BIOS

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 models
C0000-CE7FF : Reserved for Video BIOS
CE800-D07FF : Reserved for Option ROM of Ethernet (*1)
DC000-DFFFF : Reserved for USB BIOS (*2)
E0000-FFFFF : Reserved for System BIOS

Notes:
(*1) This area becomes free by disabling the Internal Network Option ROM option under Config and Network in BIOS Setup Utility. This choice will disable PXE and WOL features.
(*2) This area becomes free by disabling the USB BIOS Support option under Config and USB in the BIOS Setup Utility. This choice does not affect using USB devices in Windows operating systems.

As far as I can tell, what this is saying is if you disable the Internal Network Option ROM then PXE and WOL are dead. Which is understood. I don't think it has anything to do with the graphics adapters. Additionally I do have the latest BIOS.

Fixed, turns out CA had some similar issues about 2 years ago, and the patch I used on our PXE server had to be copied with some support files to the local boot server. All done.

Greg - what's the verdict on the T60? fan noise, stability, quality, etc.? thanks in advance for any comments.
