X40: Extended Wedge Battery Thoughts?

Hi,
Can anyone provide any thoughts on the wedge extended life battery? Pictures of the battery on the X40, review? I googled but coudln't find any good pics.

Hmm, I really like the looks of the wedge, but it adds a full 1 lbs of weight, whereas the 8 cell battery only adds 0.5 lbs. I think I'll change my order and get the 8 cell instead. In addition, 4 cell + 8 cell have 50% more energy than 4 cell + the wedge.

I got the wedge battery. I does make the x40 feel ALOT heavier. Also, it makes the back bulkier. Closed, i measured about 1.8 inches thick at the back.

It "looks" very nice and fits securely onto the bottom. I don't really know if I'm going to keep it or not. It makes the x40 weigh as much as a normal notebook (in in opnion)...

I wasn't expecting it to be quite this big...

That's what I was afraid of. I removed the wedge from my order. My X40's are currently on their way from HK, and first I'll try the machine with its std battery. If it's not satisfactory, I'll order the 8 cell one.

Does anyone have a link to a picture of the 8 cell battery? What does it look like, compared to the wedge battery?

I got mine directly from IBM, the 8 cell is the same price, $199.

IBM stuff is not discounted much by other retailers. The benefit of buying from IBM is that you can return for a refund. Most other retailers will not accept returns for refund on IBM stuff....

The 8 cell battery in those pics is only the thing protruding towards the back of the laptop, not to be mistaken with the X4 base in couple of the pics.

I understand now. I have the wedge, but the 8-cell battery looks like a better deal thanks to the input from this forum. My order is in the works. Now the next item for the wish list is a 60 GB minidrive for the X40. Should we hold our breath, or not? Thanks!
