600X Trackpoint erratic movement

#1 Post by Drewski » Mon Mar 13, 2006 1:28 pm

Well, just very recently my mouse is behaving very unusually. I darts across the screen very fast, and provides nearly no control. The only way the computer is now useable is if a restart with a mouse plugged in to the back. Before this the mouse would sometimes move on its own but I would just let it go and it would re-calibrate itself, but this seems to be an entirely different problem. I have a driver for the trackpoint installed, it was an updated one but does not seem to have done anything. How can I fix this problem? Has anyone else fixed it successfully?

Common failure. Replace the keyboard.

You can often find good one on eBay for less than $20.

Well that's disappointing, are you sure there is nothing else I can do? Such as re-install windows?

No, this is a common (sort of) problem with trackpoints.

There is one alternative, you can disable the trackpoint in the BIOS and then just use an external mouse.
