Troubleshoot me - Flickering monitor on battery -undervolted

I used the notebook hardware control to undervolt my T43... ran prime95 with no errors. I forced it to run at 6x 800 mhz when on battery.

While it was on battery and I was outside, the screen would occasionally flicker dim/off for about one second... it would do this maybe once every 5 minutes, in a group of two flickers, then when I tried to shut it down, the screen shimmered like I was degaussing it or something and wouldnt shut down.

Only things I was running were Dreamweaver and firefox...
What could be causing this?? I am trying to narrow it down and make it do it again now that im inside so I can figure it out...

Alright I got it to do it a couple more times... at 41 degrees, 6x 800 mhz.700 volts on battery, and when it does it, the CPU usage spikes up to 60-70ish percent, as I can see it on the NHC program screen. And they still come in waves of two. So it doesnt seem to be temperature related

EDIT: Just got a bluescreen when I changed the ATI settings back to default and tested it. Im now plugged back in, forcing it to run at 6x 800 mhz @ .700 volts and it hasnt flickered yet. This means it has to be related to the battery somehow, I just dont know how

Why should the Notebook work reliable when you run it outside it's recommended specifications?

maybe because hundreds of other users reported it to?

I didnt ask for someone to ask me why I would think itd work, I asked for someone to tell me why it wouldnt work

I have no answer for that, but here is my uneducated guess:

The backlight of your display is controled by something called the Embedded Controller Program. That runs on it's own tiny CPU/Ram and Rom. The backlight gets it's pulse from the Embedded Controller. To save battery the pulse is lowered after some time. I think you can change that somewhere in battery maximizer.

And here starts the guesswork: If you undervolt your CPU you also undervolt your Embedded Controller. The Controllers clock pulse is connected to the voltage, not the clock pulse of the system (wich is generated by multiplications of some quartz crystal pulse).

Maybe the Embedded Controller can't switch ON/OFF fast enough to keep the backlight going? Maybe it's just your box because you got the one with the Embedded Controller that is slighly more sensitive to voltage changes?

But like i said, thats all guesswork.

sorry I was an [censored], I was just frustrated... I went into windows power settings and played simultaneously with those settings and the NHC settings and I seem to have fixed it.
