Only 2 T60s on lenovo.com? Temp. sold out?

#1 Post by bushido » Wed Mar 15, 2006 5:44 pm

I was just looking on the lenovo.com page about T-series laptops and now there are only 2 T60 models listed, both with 1024x768 screens. I assume those are the less popular models - do you think they temporarily sold out of the others? Am I missing something?

I swear on the same page just a few days ago there was a lot more when I ordered mine.

Just ordered a 2007-68U. Estimated ship date of March 30. Only 2 weeks. Of course, it may get pushed back, but at least the initial estimate wasn't 2 months.

Anyway, such a quick estimated ship date seems to undermine the notion that Lenovo is selling out of the T60s.

Yes, you definitely ordered before me (by at least 8 hours I think). Odd. Funny thing (understandably not so funny from your perspective) is that I'm hoping mine comes later because I'll be travelling at the end of March, so it's just gonna sit there in its box for a while.

And I ordered over two weeks before you, and have an estimated ship date two weeks after yours!

Yeah it's a different model, and yeah I was stupid enough to order additional RAM, but still, they apparently have some fun LIFO stack action going on. :D

Try calling them up and ask them to just ship you the RAM - i.e., you'll install it yourself. Having them install the RAM probably means that at some point in the assembly, your laptop gets pulled out of the high-speed assembly line for standard configurations and moved to the slower customization line. Just a guess.

The sales rep I spoke to when I ordered my T60 last week said exactly that. If you are comfortable installing the RAM yourself, he suggested it might save 2 weeks on when it is shipped.

I am thinking of contacting them about this.

Thanks!

Let us know if it works. I may do a minor customization to my laptop and maybe can imply the extra time required by seeing how much time they shave off your delivery estimate. Of course, I could call and just ask, but this would be another data point.

Nice website by the way.
