Dark/Light display problem

#1 Post by ryan42 » Thu Mar 16, 2006 10:20 am

I have recently noticed this problem on my T43p with 1600x1200 FlexView Display: My desktop background is set to very dark gray, and when I have a window open anywhere, lets say the center of the screen, then from the top of the window up and the bottom of the window down there is a lighter colored area. Kind of like playing Nintendo on an old TV (that's the best way I can describe it.) Appears at all backlight levels. Also, would someone with a camera please show me your Flexview at full brightness with lets say the IBM Rebus screensaver? I have some backlight leakage on the left side where the casing holds the panel and I want to see what others' screens look like.

Thanks

In other words, you're another victim of the shoddy quality of the IDTech Flexview panels. *sigh* Good thing that Lenovo now moved to use LG and Hydis.

Kinda on topic... Is it possible to use the Hydis UXGA display on a T42 eventhough it originally came with a SXGA+ screen ?
What is the approximate cost of the display (it says price to be announced by ibm here) ?

I'm assuming it would cost around 700-900 for a Hydis UXGA panel from Lenovo. you might find it cheaper online, but remember this is the single most expensive component in a laptop. you're better off buying a T60p and selling your T42 on eBay.

not sure about the compatibility issue.
