I can't quite vote in this poll, because I have a T20, T21 & a T23. However, I do use the T21 on a daily basis, even over the T23, but only because it has 512mb instead the 256 on the T23. That and I don't feel like reinstalling windows, since I have everything loaded just the way I like it on the T21.

EDIT:
Vote was added since changes were made to the poll.

What a collection you have there!!.....Its good to hear that there are many T2X lovers out there. It might be interesting to find someone out there who have the rare T2x models.....like those with IBM security chips...SXGA+ and OEM wireless.

I have at least one of each of the T2X series machines and most are used quite frequently, if not daily.

There's a T21 in each of the planes to use as an Electronic Flight Bag (EFB), WiFi center for on the go email and weather updates, flight planning, etc. and to track usage and maintenance.

The remainder are scattered among family members or other vehicles/vessels.

Only unused T I have at the moment is a lone T20.

Oh, and a T30 I havent figured where to use.

I currently have a T20, T22 and T23. The T20 was my first, and it is slowly being reloaded and cleaned to be given to my brother. The T22 is my everyday machine for email, web, Autocad, and audio-video player. The T23 is sitting around cause I have yet to fix the system board.

We acquired a T23 on Ebay for my wife. She needed a laptop to control her embroidery machine and the T20 I had at the time didn't have the horsepower to do the job.

Even after upgrading the HDD to a Samsung 40gb and bumping the ram up to 768, we have less than $500.00 invested. She loves it, besides running the embroidery programs, she can check Email, search on the net for stuff etc. She often packs the T23 up along with the embroidery machine and goes to classes or get-togethers with her friends.

Biggest complaint? No usb 2.0, although we solved that with a pcmcia card add-on.

Ive got a T23 as backup, T40 as main machine... the 23 was just too slow. I needed something faster for regular use... and even my 40 feels sluggish sometimes.

that being said, I still love my T23 :D its got a gig of ram, 40GB 5.4k (used to be a 60GB 7k60, but I put that in the 40), Internal Intel 2100B wireless (i have the actiontek card too, it sucks), 1.2ghz p3-m, and a DVD-ROM. I just bought a new LCD cover and some new plastics for it on ebay, so its gonna be lookin like new again :)

I own a T23. It's simply a great machine. I am however searching for the rare 1400x1050 screen for it. That and no USB 2.0 native (I have a card for it though, and firewire).

I picked mine up about 6 months ago on e-bay. A nice 1.2GHz model with 512MB ram and combo drive. I paid a little over 400 for it. The seller included a new battery, a dock and ac adaper as well. The machine came off of government lease and had 1 year left on the warranty. I have absolutely no problems with any hardware of any kind.

If only it had Rage or a Radeon.

I have a T21 - 256Mb, 20Gb hdd, wireless card.

It's a great laptop. Plenty of grunt with Win2000 SP4. I fear XP will not like only 256Mb. Only let down by the lack of USB 2.0 and perhaps the slightly cramped screen and the not so good Savage video processor.

Even so nothing can beat the T2x series IMO. It has a certain style.

You can easily max the RAM at 512MB with two 256MB sticks.

Search eBay for 33L3070, the IBM part number for the memory. There's quite a few always available and some go for as little as $20!

If you can get a 256mb PC100 low density stick for as little as $20, then you must be good.

The best I have ever been able to get one was $40 shipped, generally it is more like $45-50 plus shipping each.

Is there any doubt!?!?

Seriously, while the "going" price for a stick of 33L3070 ranges between $40 and $55 delivered, you can sometimes grab one for much less.

Yes, there's a wide range of prices, there's even one guy right now with a BIN price of $117, but if you're patient you can snipe a stick or two for much less. Also check the wholesale lot sales. I bought ten sticks awhile ago for $160! (Sorry, they're all in use.)

Use my T23 nearly everyday, though I also have two Dell Desktops, three NEC & HP handhelds (use them for mobile devices outside the home) & 2 PDAs (Casio BE300)

I don't consider notebooks truly mobile but excellent portable desktops for in home use.

I'm sure that there are plenty out there, it is just that the T23 is the latest and the greatest in the T2x series.

I use my T21 everyday; on at least 3 hrs/day. All original config.
Will probably buy a T23 [w/built in 802.11b] soon to eliminate PCM slot use for 802.11g. Need PCM slot for USB2/1394 card use; since home n/w will support 11b, but not sure how much slower I'll live with vs. the 11g I presently run.

Hi! New to the forums, been a Thinkpad friend since 99, when I was doing desktop/laptop support for a big company with lots of different machines. When I wasn't fixing/cleaning HP deskjet printers, I was repairing Vaios, HPs, and Compaq laptops (mainly saying "yep, it's a goner" and shipping it out for replacement). On the rare occasion that a Thinkpad would come into the shop, it was always a great joy to work with. I respect these machines. And how about that hardware maintenance manual, eh?

Started collecting 600-series parts, and before long had a nice little collection of highly functional Thinkpads. Most of them are since bequeathed to friends, and I'm building on the T2x series now. Probably in a year or two, will start again in the 40s :)

Loyalty Points:
++Durable: I don't even use a case with my T22, just toss it in the back pack and go 8)

+Reliable: Had a mobo fry on a 600 once, and the combo card on my T22 blew recently; besides that, fewer problems with 7 thinkpads than most people with 1 Vaio..

+Stylish: Designed after the bento lunchboxes used in Japan! T2x series gets highest marks here for the rubberized finish with embedded glitter ?!

++Tactile Excellence: Don't you love typing on these things?

Peeves in the T2x series:
- The thin metal liner in the hard drive caddy isn't affixed very well
- The LED bezel on every T23 I've seen seems slightly warped, so it doesn't close exactly right. Still stays shut, but there is some flex that would be mitigated if the lid was correctly seated.

Anyways, very glad to find these forums; folks here have already been a great resource. See you on the boards!
