Battery Life dropped

#1 Post by Hatepavement » Fri Mar 17, 2006 9:47 am

I have a 2month old X41(tablet). I use it for college and love it. having the extended battery has provided me with the average of 6+ hr battery life. This is with leaving all the settings alone. Upon the beginning of spring break I stuck it on the dock and went out on the road for about 3 days. After removing it from the dock and starting to use it again for school starting monday, the battery life has dropped like a rock to 4hrs. I thought it was just a fluke but all week it has been 4hrs. This is a 33% drop between shutting it down and re-booting a week later. I checked and the power managment has not changed. Did I fry the battery by leaving it on the dock for 3days? Mabye just a bad battery? Any chance this is a warranty issue? Any experiences? Thanks in advance!

You can try to recondition the battery. I think the battery maximiser program is suppose to have that option.

Or you could completely drain the battery, until the laptop powers down. Then plug it in over night and let it recharge. Just don't access files during the time the battery is around 0%.

Do you have wifi or bluetooth enabled ? Did you change the screen brightness ? Did you change the power manager profile ?

The battery life on mine has always been around 4 hours. I have wifi on and screen brightness level at 5. The battery was closer to 4.5 hours when new. One battery is now around 3.75 hours after about 130 cycles and 5 months later.

No, everything is the same, the only thing that has changed it the life of the battery. I killed the battrery completely, untill it turned itself off and still the same result. According to the computer the battery is good and working properly. Can someone please give experiences with warranty claims on batteries. I am thinking it is the battery itself. Thanks
