Is T41p and T42p motherboard the same?(urgent)

#1 Post by miccocan » Fri Mar 17, 2006 12:27 pm

Hi
anyone can confirm T41p and T42p motherboard is the same? i know memory speed is the same, but how about CPU speed, T41p chipset won't support 533fsb 2mb centrino cpu right (i mean it will run fine but just down grade to 400fsb)? size and fitting is the exact same?

i am asking this because i need to replace my T42p motherboard (water damage), and i have 2 person give me offer now, one T41p systemboard and one T42p system board but 15".

I have not worked on a single 15" T4X series....but it is my understanding that the 15" MOBO WILL NOT work on the 14" one.

The T40 motherboards have no HD shock sensor

T41 and T42 motherboards are the same (400MHZ bus, same chip set) the T41's have a 1MB cache processor, the T42's have a 2MB cache processor!!!! As long as they are 14" models they are the same board!!!!

The T43's have the "newer" chip set that is 533MHZ bus!!! In my opinion the 533MHZ bus offers no advantage in a small to medium form factor like a T43 series; there extra heat generated outweights any benefit (if it is always sitting on a desk, then there are no issues)

Hope that clarifies it a little better for you.....good luck!

My understanding is that the 15" board WILL NOT FIT on a 14" ThinkPad T4X (The 15" ThinkPad is much larger then the 14" counterpart)

15" board is exactly the same board as 14" board..... difference is an internal added extender board attached on 15" for optical drive connection. HDD reach is same , 15" just uses extended caddy cover.
Don't know why some people give "supposed authoritive" answers on things they know nothing about......

I guess that you figured that I knew nothing about the T4X due to my first post:

I have not worked on a single 15" T4X series....but it is my understanding that the 15" MOBO WILL NOT work on the 14" one.

But then I guess I did know something:

If you would read and think before you post, them maybe you can provide concrete factual answers without bashing....

No bashing intended actually, don't take it personally.....
it was just a general venting on my part, for similar reasons as your last post i guess, about concrete factual answers......

The 14" board will fit the 15"case and vise versa..... just add or subtract additional extender card etc.

Yes, I was aware of this from the HMM, and based on a logical conclusion I assumed as such...but then someone mentioned that this was not the case, and having never worked on one (15" T4X) I really could not provide a concrete answer on it.

Thanks for clarifing the issue!
