Looking for older version of Access Connections

#1 Post by laspozas » Fri Mar 17, 2006 1:32 pm

I recently updated all the software on my Thinkpad. Most of my drivers/software were pre-Lenovo as I have been out of the country and away from my T42 2373-3VU since June '05.

I upgraded the 2200BG driver from 8.0.12.20000 to 9.0.4.8 and Access Connections to 4.11a. With that combination, Access Connections was unable to control my wireless card - it incorrectly reported the status of the radio and I was not able to connect to wireless networks using my previously working profiles.

I tried downgrading the wireless driver back to 8.0.12.20000 but Access Connections still wouldn't work. I then uninstalled Access Connections, and now my wireless card works fine as controlled by Windows.

I travel a lot so I would love to get Access Connections working again, but all I have is the non-functional 4.11a.

Can anyone help me find an older version of Access Connections (I wish I'd saved it!) or refer me to some instructions on how to get the newer version working?

Having watched a number of interations of threads with similar problems and solutions being discussed here, the approach that seems to work is....
  • Uninstall Acccess Connections & reboot.
Uninstall the wireless drivers & reboot.
Run your favourite registery cleaner* & reboot
    Reinstall latest wireless driver
    Reinstall latest Access Connection
* I regularly run Registry First Aid (Rose City Software) to keep my Windows registry as clean as possible and I don't have issues with Access Connection or wireless driver upgrades, despite having gone through several turns of that wheel since I started using wireless on a ThinkPad!

Cheers,

Bill
