Removing dust particle on inside of LCD?
Removing dust particle on inside of LCD?
How do you guys know if it's a dead pixel versus dust on the "inside" of the LCD?
Mine seems to be a light gray color that doesn't change when I put on different backgrounds. I know what I stuck pixels is, since that's always a certain color. So, when I have it on a black background, I can still see the fleck of dust. That's why I think it's dust rather than a dead pixel which is supposed to be black.
My current Thinkpad is perfect except for that "dust particle." Anyone able to blow some compressed air to get rid of it? It's about 2cm above the bottom at midline.
Don't want to return my 3 Tpad to IBM

Could be a dust particle but more likely a stuck pixel - they can be red, green, blue, or any combination of two, all three or none (dead). Can look like a tiny dust speck behind the screen. Try to looking at it under a magnifying glass.

I am quite sure that it was not a stuck pixel in my case. It was like a shadowed area of ~1mmx2mm in size, inside LCD. I attached a letter with the notebook, asking the repairman to be very careful in handling the new unit. They did an excellent job. (The only thing I may wish they do better is to wrap the unit with a protective bag in the box before shipping back to me. They simply dropped the bare unit in the box.) No scratches, the new screen was perfect after the replacement. IBM's service is top notch. I am very pleased with my new TP.
