Is there anything on A31 that you find insufficient? Did your computing needs change?

After getting used to SXGA+, you may not realize that XGA can be limiting at times.

Also make sure that T40 stilll has warranty.

I read on IBM-Lenovo website that T40 mostly have XGA screen but there is a chance I'll have SXGA+ screen.Besides if I'll buy that T40 I'll do it directly from IBM-Lenovo company.

But I still need advice..masterus

You're not providing any criteria that we can help you with. "I have this, and I can buy that. Tell me what to do." Okay, buy it. T40s are great. You'll love it.
2668-75U T43, 2GB RAM, 2nd hand NMB kybd, Dock II, spare Mini-Dock, and spare Port Replicators. Wacom BT tablet. Ultrabay 2nd HDD.
2672-KBU X32, 1.5GB RAM, 7200 rpm TravelStar HDD.

Hi-
You are going from 1400x1050 screen resolution to 1024x768? Personally, I would never do this. Switching from higher resolution to lower one would drives me crazy! Also, you are programming and doing multimedia stuff; I would stay with the higher resolution. You are loosing a lot of desktop space if you go with the T40.
