svchost.exe in my memory 7 times !?!?!

#1 Post by danny_isr » Mon Mar 20, 2006 7:57 am

i'm using like 700-800 of RAM. (good thing i upgraded to 1G )
i'm not using more applications then in the past . And back then i was using only 300-400

so i looked in the task manager and i saw the svchost so many times.
any one knows why and what should i do to solve this ?

i think i'm getting to the point of going to the recovery and press the button.
too many things going on after one year of owning the machine :

slow boot up , high ram usage , not coming back from STBY , got the Egather and Ugather on boot up using 100% CPU for 10-15 minutes

And lately I got a new problem (ii got a post on this) i tried to fix the boot up and messed the internet connection after STBY.

Office problem - not related but my outlook 2003 got a really bizarre problem, each time I’m touching a folder all the menus get duplicated  . un install didn't help.

i wonder what next

Multiple instances of SVCHOST.EXE is normal. Everything else isn't. Egather and Ugather should be rid of. Analyze your processes one by one and see who's eating all the RAM, then think what to do about it.
