Adaptec AUA-1422 USB/1394 Combo not working in T42

I have read a post or two stating that the T42 is very sensitive to combo usb/1394 cards and some don't work.

My Adaptec DuoConnect works fine in several other laptops but when inserted in my T42 it can't even recognize a M$ mouse, even though it installs the drivers and looks as if everything is running fine.

I use other cards in the T42 and they work but I am not sure if it is just a cardbus problem as I think my other cards are just 16b PCMICA.

Running XP Pro, did a full re-image without SP2 and it is not any better.

Any help or do I just need to buy a new card?
