Autodetecting system at Lenevo site not working - help

#1 Post by christopherjpreston » Tue Mar 21, 2006 5:26 am

I have a t42 23737wm. Up until last year I was able to autodetect my t42 at the Lenovo site to check the warranty status of my thinkpad, look at model number specific info and so on. However, after installing the activex at the lenova site it checks my system and gives the following error message..

===============

Product not found

No products match 'UNKN-OWN'.

Quick path requires a product number (for example: 2668-KHU or 40Y8716) and cannot be used to search. If you wish to search, visit the Search PC Support page.

Please return to the Support & downloads homepage and make sure you enter a product number (machine type and model or part number).

Learn how to find your product number

If you are still receiving this error message, try one of the following options:
If you entered a system’s product number (machine type and model), enter just the first 4 digits (machine type). If you still receive this error, submit Site feedback, including the entire machine type and model.

If you entered a part number, search for the part number by visiting the Search PC Support link, located in the left navigation bar.

I believe this is a problem with my PC. Can anyone recommend a fix so I don't have to type my model number in and serial number manually all the time

thanks

any idea if its something in bios which must be activated?! or which the pb might be?
