Fresh instll of XP on T60, can't load Audio or Modem Drivers

#1 Post by dexterryu » Tue Mar 21, 2006 9:04 am

I just got my loaners in from IBM to build my new images for an upcoming rollout. I'm having some issues with loading the audio and modem drivers. For one the sound card/chip is not even being detected and the modem drivers fail when I attempt to install them.

Has anyone encountered this before or have any suggestions?

Thanks

I just went through this last night while doing a _clean_ install of XP. There was one "PCI Device" that Device Manager couldn't find a driver for, yet I had no modem or audio. It turns out that there is another driver that has to be installed first, and the modem and sound devices hang of of it. By luck, I found it in the DRIVERS/OTHER3 directory that I backed up before whiping th HD. After that, the modem and audio drivers are a snap.
