T4x/R5x Battery---Is Failure to Recharge "normal"?

#1 Post by Grumpy » Tue Mar 21, 2006 5:16 pm

Battery (08K8193) 16 mos old. Was holding charge 1 to 1-1/2 hrs. at Full System Performance. Will not recharge at all. This happened on 101st recycle according to MaxMiser. 0 recharge current.

Is this "normal" for a battery to fail this way? I expected to see the run time get lower and lower as battery got older. Could this be software killing things after 100 cycles?

If it's new battery time, any recommendations for a brands? Are the $60 "NEW" batteries on EBAY reliable?

no, that is not normal - ive never heard of a battery just ceasing to recharge with that much life left in it.

that said, do NOT get a generic battery off ebay, the battery is one part that you are going to want an authentic IBM battery... the generic ones are crap.
