Access Connections msg: 'active ethernet network port...'

#1 Post by kaczor47 » Thu Mar 23, 2006 1:33 am

Hello, first time poster here, so please excuse this noob,

I have just done a clean winXP install (following the most excellent 4saad guide) on my T41. I have set up my Access Connections, AFAIK the same way as I had it before. However whenever I connect to my home network via (wired) ethernet I get a message as follows:

----------------------------------------------------------
An active Ethernet network port has been detected.

Choose the profile which should automatically applied each time you attempt to connect to this Ethernet network from this port.

Location Profile Name: Home
Number of Saved Ports: 1
-----------------------------------------------

I hit 'save' in hope that it will chose my 'home' location, but the message keeps coming up each time.

Could anybody shed some light on this?

thanks in advance for your help.

I'm a noob too & uses wireless.

But, I think I can help you in this case.

Go to IBM Access Connections & make another account just like the previous.

Then delete the previous.

Actually, your situation may not be all that bad - just irritating.

Another guy posted a problem saying that Access Connections won't do anything.

In your case, it does do something.
