Why is my CPU set to 598Mhz? I have a T42P
Hey,
I have a 1.8Ghz T42P laptop, and I was just checking my CPU speed, and for some reason it says 1.8 Ghz than next to it 598 Mhz. Why is that? I have the battery set to Max Performance, CPU - Max performance, and this is still occuring. I want my CPU always to be running at 1.8 Ghz.
Here is the screenshot:

Power setting
I agree setting the CPU to max processing power all the time wastes not only battery power when unplugged but also generates a lot of heat. This in turn has the potential to place a heavier strain and wear out your components faster. In the control panel window you will see an icon for power options then a folder menu of settings, under advanced settings you will see a pull down menu for CPU power management; automatic or disable. Windows warns you to leave it on auto unless you know what you are doing. If you are running just a word processor the CPU is usually on medium power, but if you multitask and run a few software at the same time you will notice the CPU setting increase until it hits the maximum clock speed.

Re: Power setting
Do you have any actual evidence specifically related to T4x laptops in support of that assertion?mav wrote:in turn has the potential to place a heavier strain and wear out your components faster.
