z60m configuration question

#1 Post by Andrew2T » Thu Mar 23, 2006 3:34 pm

Hello,

I am trying to configure z60m. And this part is very strange, here is what I see:

Integrated WiFi wireless LAN
Wi-Fi wireless upgradable (Standard)
--------------------------------------------------------

Integrated WiFi wireless LAN adapters [2] [Help me decide]
None [subtract $32.80]
11a/b/g Wireless LAN Mini-PCI Adapter II
Intel PRO/Wireless 2915ABG Mini PCI Adapter [add $7.20]

Wireless LAN accessories [2] [Help me decide]
Intel PRO/Wireless 2915ABG Mini-PCI Adapter [$48.38]
ThinkPad 11a/b/g Wireless LAN Mini-PCI Adapter II (US) [$53.30]

Do I have to choose one of these? And why the prices are so different for the same card (for instance Intel Pro 2915 is $7.20 and 48.38 at the same time?)?
Thanks;)

You are not reading it right - there is only a variance of a couple of dollars. You get to subtract $32.80 if you don't want any wireless which means this is the cost of the ThinkPad abg card which is incorporated into the system price - to have the Intel card as an alternative would cost $7.20 more than this which equals $40 total price.

FRU parts that come with a system are normally cheaper than option parts but it is just $8.48 difference.
